I am about to apply for an affix and I don't know whether to put in joint name of me and my partner Keith or just in my name.
The only problem is when we bought Shadow, we registered the change of ownership in my name only.
The new pups have not had the change of ownership done yet so I could put them in joint or single names, but is it true that if I am registered as a sole owner then i would need the affix in sole name as well.

I can't help you Lynne as I've not got that far yet:) Kassie is only registered in my name though- I'm a firm believer of what's yours is ours and what's mine is mine- and no one under this sun would ever take/get my bitch from me (she say's like a spoilt brat:D);)

If you apply for your affix in joint names then yes you would have to register change of ownership in joint names to use it and change Shadow to joint names as well.:D Gillian

You will pay the KC to change your puppies ownership over to you from the breeders.
Then you will pay to have the affix added at a later date.
If your affix is in your name only, and you put the dogs under your name only, then you will only pay to have your affix added.
If your affix is in joint names and you register your dogs under joint names, then you will only pay to have your affix added.
If your affix is in your name only, and your puppies are registered jointly, then you will have to pay to have the pup's returned to your *ownership* BEFORE you can add your affix. You will then have to pay out again to have the affix added. Then you pay out a third time to have the puppies returned to joint ownership!
Your best bet is to have affix and puppies registered to you soley or to do it all jointly :-)
Shadow, I messed things up because I registered our affix in both our names. When I tried to register the puppies I couldn't as their mum was only registed in my name. I then had to apply to re-register her in both our names before I could register the puppies. It was done very quickly, but would have been easier to have just left the affix in my name only.

I feel that that is a bit of a silly thing - as long as the bitch was in one of the affix holders names, why shouldnt the affix be used? It is still registered to you, as is the affix! What if you and your husband had your own individual dogs, but still wanted to sahre an affix!
Just a way in which the KC want to be awkward sometimes!
There is actually a way where you can add an interest to an affix so that it can be used jointly or individually but wait dont get too excited the KC then want yearly maintance fees from both of you so instead of £20 per year it costs £40 :rolleyes: Gillian

Lynne, stick with your own name! When I was registering my/our affix, himself said "why isn't my name on it too?". So I registered it in joint names. Then I had to pay the KC fees for changing the dogs' registrations. And have spent the last couple of decades forging his signature, 'cos he's never around when I need to sign some blinking KC form!

Al went on and on and on about how ridiculous the KC were, it was all more money. Blah blah blah.
So I registered the affix in my name and now he's signed the TH over to me too :D :D :D

I didn't give Chris any option on having Holly in joint names - she's registered as my dog and the affix is in my name only.
Chris is never around to sign paperwork so it seemed easier to have it all in my name.

We applied for TH in joint names,but in their infinite wisdom the KC sent back her papers in just Al's name

No offence. But no thanks. Holly is black and we're replacing everything with white so it doesn't show the hairs ;)
