hi i was hoping that someone would want to talk about horse racing. i suppose that i could go on a racing forum but i don't do enough work as it is by being on here, so theres no way i could do 2 without being sacked!! :D
perhaps you could save me from this by talking racing! anything really flat or jumps or breeding.
in anticipation
helen ;)
i have not been to the races in years, always used to go with my dad, i met willie carson , lester piggot, got their autographs, i prefer over the jumps to the flat, i only live 10 mins away from two racecourses, i should make the effort to go again, one year my dad took me to watch the horse on the downs at lambourne at about 6.00 in the morning, the dew was on the grass and the mist was on the fields and you could feel the ground shaking as they started to come up the straight towards us, and then the rush as they sped by, we where sitting on top of the landrover with bincolours watching them and talking to the owner, also met my fav horse red rum, got my pic taken with him and ginger, and then i met desert orchid, WOW is all i can say, he is such a gentle giant and the most solefull eyes i have ever seen.

I used to ride out for the late Ryan Price at what is now Josh Giffords place in Findon (or was I am a bit out of touch) years ago.
Its not exactly to do with racing but grant myself and max sometimes drive up to chepstow racecourse on a sunday(its less than a mile from where we live so we should walk really!)cos they have an open air market every sunday(they have done since i can remember) but there wasn't one which was very strange??? I went there on a racing day many moons ago and i bet on a horse and it won(i got £50 which wasn't bad cos i was only 16)
julie :-)
We love point to points, were going to try national hunt at Towcester, but found out that they dont allow dogs :( Mind you I think ours like all the food stands and fancy picnics at PtoPs :D

Lucy We havnt been to Chipping Norton P to P, I dont know why as it really isnt that far. I used to work around the corner from Sandown Park and My sister lives quite close to Windsor/Ascot, I have been to some of the evening flat meetings but some how it just isnt as much fun. Mind you it helps if you know someone who is racing and I often used to at the P to Ps.
Note to self - remember to get Horse and Hound after Christmas for the dates (forgot last year so missed out).
Wow, you are lucky carol, i would love to have met Red Rum and Desert Orchid!! :D and i would like to see the horses working in the mornings too. i did work in Newmarket for a short time but never managed to get out to see them. i have never met a famous horse,

on the stud where i live (and worked until my children were born) we did foal, raise and prep a group 1 winner that races for Sheik Mohammed his name is Firebreak and Frankie Dettori loves him! ;) although i have been involved in the racing industry for nearly 10 years i have never been racing, flat jumps or PtoP i must get round to it one day!! maybe cos i live in cornwall everywhere is so far away and when i was in newmarket it was the close season for flat but can really explain why i haven't

glad that lots of you enjoy it though.
