can any one tell me how much and what age to have it done

My vet recommends that bitches are spayed midway between seasons - mostly between 1st and 2nd seasons. There is an average gap of 6 months between seasons, so if your bitch has her first season at 6 months you'd book her in for spaying at 9 months. If she has her first season at 8 months of age you'd book her in three months later, at 11 months.

Prices vary from vet to vet and from region to region - around £150 would be a fairly safe guess, and it could be less than that.

Hi Guest I would think just after her first season. most vets will like to wait for a few weeks after her season so it doesnt upset her hormones, if you assk at your vets they will advice you on it, as for cost my vets go off the weight of the dog ive not long since had one of my older boxers spayed and it cost me £134.but having said that she is fully grown and was a little over weight.I would again ask your vet but it shouldnt be any more than £150....

Also Boxers are one of the breed prone to urinary incontinence ater sapying so for this reason it is wise to wait until everything is physically mature.  I would not spay a bitch of this size until after a year of age.

Hi Brainless thanks for adding that in your post i was going to include it in mine, but my brain slipped out of gear,having said that i have only ever had two of my girls spayed and none of them suffered with  urinary incontinence. ive not long since had my 6yr old spayed and so far she is ok.But there again all my girls were spayed at ages of 3yrs 5yrs and 6yrs, I know of several other boxer girls who do suffer from  urinary incontinence and they are treated with drops in their food once a day.
