Hi im planning my next litter and wanted to know if any one knew of a sheep scanner in the bristol area, after the hassel i had with my last litter, my vet kept telling me it was a phantom pregnancy, i wasnt happy so asked for her to be scanned couldnt get hold of a scanner for 6 weeks so had a blood test, that took a week and a half to come back for some reason and by the time it was back you colud see the pups wriggling around, i dont want the stress for my girl this time, shes okay with the vets but i think going backwards and forward all the time was abit stressful for her when all she wanted to do was sleep.
Thanks in advance.

Why don't you let nature take it's course. Prepare for whelping put if not then so be it?

Hi Dapple
If you don't mind me saying that is a bit of a cavalier attitude. There is more ofter than not a good reason to scan it can be useful to identify possible problems and it is always better to be prepared. Having a home visit from a sheep scanner is so much better for the bitch.
How do you handle your whelping? If you can give me some tips I would be interested to hear.

If you don't mind me saying, I can not see any cavalier attitude in that suggestion. It is purely another point of view and because you do not agree with it, does not make it wrong or require any justification :) Women are given the choice to know what sex their child is (or were). It does not make them any less of a mother if they chose to "wait and see".

Hi again Dapple
I am sorry if I was abrupt, a couple I know just went through a difficult birth and lost a pup, could have been the bitch too but for an emergency C section. If she had been scanned they might have seen the problem, and done an xray to see the pup was too large for the birth canal. I am no expert but only want the best in modern technology, as it is there, I want to be prepared when my bitch gives birth.
