Does anyone know of this virus? It might not be the correct spelling, maybe not even the right words but that is what it sounds like!!
It is a virus from the Baltic, and is an infection in the muscles around the lungs, does anyone know where I can get some more info on it?
Oh BTW, it is a human virus, I don't know if our K9 friends can get it or not, but I am more interested in the human form!! :D
Thanks :D

Try doing a search on Google for Bornholm Disease. That might be what you are looking for.
Thanks very much JackyJat :D
JackyJat, I have looked and have found, thanks very much, I am trying to find out now if animals can get it, I don't suppose you would know? I am not very good at googling!!
Thanks again :)

Have a look for Coxsackie Virus but please be very careful how you put that into Google!!!
It is very contagious, quite rare and seems like animals can get it.
I have the virus. I found a site that said you pick it up through infected poo basically, (YUK I know!!) The only poo I have been near is obviously my own, and I don't think I can infect myself, my son's, who hasn't got the virus, and Jed's (our puppy, which is why I asked if animals can get it) but unless it shows itself in different ways in dog's he doesn't seem ill, and he had his last puppy injections last night and a bit of a check over and the vet didn't find anything that seemed tender or anything, so I have no idea where it has come from, and for the record I must wash my hands at least 10 times a day!! ;)
I have read that it normally presents an epidemic, but I have had it now for over a week, and neither my hubbie, my son, nor anyone else I have been in contact with seems to be ill.

Oh well, back to laying on the sofa feeling sorry for myself I guess! I am not very good at being ill!
Thanks again for your help :D

Have you used public toilets? pub toilets? shop toilets? If it is highly contageous you might have picked it up off of a door handle from someone not as hygienic as you :(
I think this sort of thing is the only answer. :( It did say you can also catch it from saliva and nasel secretions, but again only been near my hubbie, son and Jed.

It only takes a child to pick its nose and then open a door for bugs to be on the handle ... :( Yuck!
I don't know what is worse, poo or 'bugs'!!! ;) :P
It has cleared one thing up though, I had a 'funny five minutes' last week, I was cleaning the tiles in the kitchen, and suddenly started sweating to the point where my clothes were soaked and it was dripping off me, my stomache felt awful, I could barely stand up but obviously I stopped cleaning and managed to some how get up the stairs (didn't want my son to see me like that) and then as quickly as it came, it was gone again, I thought it was a reaction to what I was using to clean the tiles with, but it seems it is all part of this virus thing.

I wouldn't worry too much about where you caught it from. I would guess it isn't from your dog! It's easy to worry about things especially when they've got an unusual name!
I can sympathise as I've torn my calf muscle and am trying to take the advice of the doctor and keep it elevated so am sat on the sofa too!
Sorry missed your last post some how... I am sorry about your leg, I hope it get's better soon, until then sit back and enjoy the OH running around after you, I have been doing for the past week, and although it is wearing a bit thin now, I have more or less enjoyed it!! ;) :P

That would be OK if I had an OH! 'Tis a bit of a struggle to get the kids motivated enough to allow me to sit back and relax. I've managed to cancel all my appointments this week so I can do the right thing!
There is only one thing for it then, get the food delivery menu's out and treat yourself to no cooking and no washing up for tonight!
P.S. Don't forget the bottle of red ;) :P
Aww Nat :-) Poor you....i hope your feeling better soon, i'm sending big {{{HUGS}}} your way xxx

Natalie - I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly - I know how I felt when I came back from Japan with a particularly nasty Campylobacta bug :(
Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks everyone, I took the pain killers last night, zonked out in front of the telly, my hubbie woke me up about 20 minutes later in a right panic, I had a big red blothcy rash everywhere, I was sweating and shivering, I had a really dry mouth to the point where I couldn't talk, he was ready to ring 999, and then once again it all dissapeared within a minute and I could talk again, I rang the doctors this morning and he said it is a side effect of the pain killers, I said it is a good job I waited until Lee came home from work, if I'd have been here with Thomas on my own, goodness knows what would have happened!
I am now at the point where I am just fed up of it, it hurts like hell but this is now into week two and you kind of get used to the pain, but I am just fed up of not being able to do anything, I am so confused all of the time, like last night we decided on fish and chips for dinner, Lee did the potatoes, and he 'let me' put the fish onto the grill pan, I came and sat down and five minutes later walked into the kitchen and asked him what we were having for dinner! It is a good job I don't mind him laughing at me!! ;)
Lynn, we have been taking Jed out and carrying him, but he has a few more days before he can go down on the floor, the doc said this virus should be gone by next Monday-ish so hopefully I will be at least a bit better by the weekend, we have arranged to take him on the train so hubbie can do any carrying!!
