Hi everyone on ChaMpdogs, In your particular dog hobby, has there been anyone who has most influenced, helped, inspired or encouraged you?
(you never know you might see your name here - what a compliment that would be)!

I have learned a lot from loads of people on here - some who still post, some who sadly dont.
John, Mattie, Brainless, ChristineW, Tohme, Kayc, Ice-Queen - just for some - I can't remember where I have gleaned every little nugget of extra useful information from - from labradors through breeding, through nutrition, behaviour, showing, earning more about hereditary diseases, etc etc etc - this, to me, really is an Information Exchange!
I hope that in turn I may have helped some people. Unlike some people who come onto the board and start banging away, I will only post on things that I am absolutely certain about ;)
Margot

I have also learnt a lot from lots of different people on here. I think I have probably learnt more from other people's questions than my own. Other people have asked things that I haven't even thought of which I have taken on board.

I agree with those that Margot has mentioned, and there are many more.
Champdogs really is an information exchange in the truest sense of the term, but its not just about a few people helping others, IMO every one has a part to play, even new owners can help others with their experiances.
I'm grateful for those who are so willing to post and help others even thoug it some times seems their putting them selves in the firing line, long may they carry on doing so.

I would love to take this opportunity to thank everyone on Champdogs who helped me through a very difficult time with my Great Dane Shadow when he was diagnosed with cancer. I had some fantastic medical advice, dietary advice and messages of support and prayers. Don't want to name anyone in particular as I may forget to mention one of the very many people who offered advice and support. No-one gave negative feedback, everyone of you has a special place in my heart.

Margot...thank you :)
In a previous thread similar to this, I named names, and then realised I had left so many out, so this time no names. Each and everyone of us gains a little from every post, whether we realise it is another matter. an answer to someone else's question, is tucked away in a file in our head and at sometime or another, we use this information.
So, although there are the many who have given me support, advice and the occassional well meant 'butt kick' I would have to say, that each and every one of us (apart from the ?????) have gained so much from Champdogs in general. I only hope that I can give as much as I have received. Truly an information exchange with the added bonus of a making some good friends along the way
i would say this forum the uk bullmastiff forum and my breeders lynn and duncan from ferdhu she is the first point of call for any questions i might have and i have lots lol

Many, many people on here have helped me from the start until now and beyond :) A wonderful group of people on the whole , always ready to give solid advise when needed

Ditto Mel.
Dare not mention names for fear of forgetting anyone.
Loads of help and enjoyment over the years.
Val was a exceptional great help when I had my first litter. She had over worked fingers from all the typing :-). She is probably what made me hang around.

Loads of people here have influenced me, for better or worse! ;) Every post shows another aspect of life - it's very educational.

My inspiration and love of dogs stems from a lady I knew from the age of nine, I used to spend all my free time walking/showing her dogs with her and I can't thank her enough, unfortunately she passed away when I was 22 and circumstances haven't allowed me a dog of my own until recently.
&
KAYC; you've given alot!!!!

Aaawww Thanks Margot!!!!, gone all shy n red now!
Most of the people on CD have helped me, wether it answering questions, correcting me or just broadening my knowledge on breeds, shows, other displins etc etc etc
There are also people like Nicky and Karren Fountin and nicky (I think) and susan Crummy (plus all their parents) who always encouraged me many, many, many, many, many, many years ago when I first started handling/showing! From giving me tips, to explaining things right to letting me borrow dogs!
There's then everyone who has let me handle their dogs and given me the expeiance of many different breeds and many different dogs!
Not forgetting Fiona (f.a.brook) for my latest of getting into grooming.
And lastly my parents who have encouraged me all the way! :)
Sounds like a speech after I've won an oscar!!!! :D
LOL

Pat Gaskell in Pomeranians. She helped me and showed me how to trim dogs etc. when I was very young. The only person really in Pom's that did this for me.
Since then many people have influenced me. We may not agree on many things but I have friends now that I can speak to and they me and listen to what each other has to say.
Also this site is a wonderful site for information and I'm still only learning about the world of dogs after showing etc. for around 23 years.
I've been on here since Janruary, and it's the most informative site i've been, thanks to Brainless, Archer, Jeangenie,Meldoysk, Moonmaiden, ice queen, Emily Rose, who's really nice, plus King of Bling Claire, who's really helped me handle my dog, she's a pleasure to watch working with her dog a born natural and loads more but i can't think of your names at the moment. Just a big thank you for all your knowledge you've passed onto me thanks.
Warm regards Susan
Aww thanks Susan :D I always say knowledge is useless unless you can pass it on and help others so glad I could help.
There are loads of people on here with years of dog experience, its great to read everyones opinions and hopefully we all learn something new every so often. All the above mentioned names plus Teri, she always gives really good advice to people who need it.
In general I have been mostly influenced by the Beard Boys breeder, Diane, she was the one whom I took encouragement off too show Chloe and then Kayla as practice really for when I got my (not so)little wire man. She is alway at the end of the phone to answer any questions I have, we have emails bouncing back and forth almost every day and I've lost count of the amount of times her and Jonathan have been so kind to let me stay at their house when we go to shows together. Its great to have that support there, exactly what I was looking for in a breeder.
Thanks Diane & Jonathan :)

Where is Teri these days? Anyone heard from her?
The puppies breeders , Steve Evans and Tracy Hammond have gave me endless amounts of help with everything, also the owner of the pups dad, Debbie Evans, has gave me lots of help as well. Nicola who is on here (chud) has been one of the kindest and friendless people that have met. But the list goes on and on there are some many people on here and at shows and also nearly everyone who belongs to the wheaten club have been really kind. Also so many people in Ireland, who are just sooo kind. It's been a really nice year and a bit in show dogs.

Your welcome Emily, i new i'd forgotten someone the walking encylopedia of dogs herself Teri, thanks to you to Teri. Once i'd posted the names i started to think it was a bad idea because you can't remeber everyone who's helped you.
Take care Susan

I has been, and always will be a pleasure Emily We get as much joy from sharing the sucesses and otherwise with you as you get from them.Keep at it!! See you Saturday
Diane

Emily, you are so right that information is useless unless you can pass it on.
I once heard the worst thing said at a junior handling training day by one of the mothers of a top junior handler who said "I'm not telling everyone all the tip's we've found out over the years" I thought that was terrible and swore I would never keep information. I know train junior handling and will tell them everything I have learnt over the years. At the end of the day when they succeed at a show I can turn round and say "I trained them" What's the point in having knowledge and not sharing it! :D

It really is a two way street, as those of us who havew been in dogs a while get to be reminded what it is like when you have your firdt pup, how overwhelming it can be and how people get themselves into a pickle with things we find second nature. this helps those of us who breed to help and forestall problems our new puppy onwers may have and make their transition into dog ownership, and therefore our lives easier. :D

As others have noted many, many posters have provided me with valuable information, in posts of my own query and others that I just read. But I have to say that MoonMaiden went out of her way to help with my initial request and I thank her again.

I think two of the stud dog owners have given me a lot of information......plus of course KayC when we were having problems last year with one of our girls, very helpful, lovely lady!
