a few ppl say to worm every day from day 40 until she has had the pups but to me that is to much, last time i wormed 1s a week from day 40 and then again at the same times as the pups which is 3 weeks (i like to get them eatting before i worm them) and then every 2 weeks after that.
all ive ever wormed with is dronatol dog which i believe does everything so ill have to ask the vet which is best to worm with thanks for your advice

My vet has always given a bottle of drontal for my pups and a 3 month wormer tablet for my bitch. Pay your vet a visit and do not buy over the counter wormers they do not kill everything, always get them from your vet.

You can worm anytime during pregnancy with most modern wormers e.g. Vermifuges - according to the Book of the Bitch; however you should seek veterinary advise to make sure you give the correct dose.
When our springer was pregnant we wormed her on panacur (we normally only use drontol) the vet said the drontol was too strong for the puppies but i cant remeber when we started worming Sadie (the mum). We wormed the puppies with panacur but again i cant remember when we wormed them. Ask your vet as they know the best and when to do it good luck with your puppies they are hard work but so worth it.

Drontal comes as a puppy suspension as well, which I use as I have heard too many tales of pups getting ill from Panacur. Pups are normally wormed at 3,5,7 weeks and then again with new owners at 9 and 11 weeks.

As far as I am aware only one wormer is licensed (and tested as safe) for use in pregnant bitches and that is Panacur.
You worm at a 1/4 of the normal dose daily from 6 weeks in whelp until 2 days post whelping.
I have done this now for four generations of bitches and soon on the fifth.
hi to everyone that answered my question havnt been able to reply to as ive been working i did ring the vet and they said to use panacur liquid for mum and pups so ill go with that i do have another question what do you people ween your pups on a friend of mine weens on just weetabix but do any of you go onto puppyfood at any stage before letting them go to their new home as iwould have thought it best if so at what age do you introduce puppy food

I start weaning mine onto scraped raw beef at 3 weeks, and add some mushed puppy food at 4 weeks. By 5 weeks they're on 5 small meals a day, and by 7 weeks they're used to raw meat, boiled fish, egg, puppy complete and biscuit meal.
I find it appalling that someone would think weetabix is an appropriate complete diet for a puppy.

Please be careful if you use the Panacur liquid on your puppies.
I used it for my litter at 3 weeks and within 4 hours all of them were throwing up and had terrible runny poos.(it was literally spraying out of them.)
It was a nightmare I honestly thought we were going to lose them all, so off we went to the emergency vet and he said he never uses panacur on pups before the age of 6 months because he has had this problem himself. He also said others breeders had said they would never use Panacur too.
It was such a shame as all pups were right as rain apart from the vomiting and runs and were climbing all over each other to play.
The next day though it had cleared up and they have never been ill since.
thankyou for your info on worming iwill ask my vet for dronatol puppy wormer just hope he will provide it for me but what did you worm the mother with
thankyou for your info on weaning i also thought that weetabix was not enough feed for the pups i would of thought theyed need meat of some sort
