It means that the dogs are able to be registered as pedigree dogs on the Kennel Club register as both their parents are KC registered and the breeder has decided to register them with the KC.
IT is NOT necessarily a mark of quality, more like the DVLA who have a record of all car registrations.
However I would never buy a pedigree dog WITHOUT it being KC registered as I would want to know why it was not; also pedigree dogs not registered on the breed register are ineligible to be shown at other than Companion Shows nor can they compete in field trials or gundogs tests of work.
For those people who have non KC registered pedigree dogs or mutts they can be registered on the KC activity register which means they are then eligible to participate in KC licensed events such as agility, obedience, working trials, heelwork to music etc.

Just to add, details of the parents relevant health tests such as hipscoring, eye test and similar will be noted on the registration certificate, so it is proof of them having been done, and with what result. That's very relevant even to a pet owner with no intention of showing or breeding, as you want to know your puppy has the best possible chance of staying healthy from any breed related defect.

Not all eye tests are on a KC registration paper, depends on which breed and category that breed are in. our breeds gonioscopy scores aren't put on.

Really? That's weird, had no idea!

Would have thought any official test should be on.....

Hi Guest,
Taking Tohme's excellent car analogy a little further (get outta my head Tohme :D :D)
If you were looking at two car ads, same make/model/age/price etc
First car comes with DVLA registration, log book, service history, MOT and owners manual.
Second car comes with no papers or just the owners manual.
Which one would you choose? ;) ;)

Dill
Marianne,
As far as I know, the CT DNA/RNA test results for Bedlingtons aren't put on the registration documents, they are done voluntarily by breeders/owners. We do have the test certificates tho ;)

Yes, I know when we have our dogs eye tested at a Husky Club clinic by Peter Bedford, the results aren't on the KC paperwork, but we do have the certificates to show they have been done.

Doesn't the panelist stamp the KC certificate at the testing ? They do the ISDS certs

I think the Husky Club has its own scheme. Our Club used to have a similar one - same test, same eye specialist, but without the KC/BVA Cert & MUCH cheaper. Our Club always accepted the results as being equally valid to the KC scheme.

They do for the BC's MM
We had our Malamutes tested by Prof. Beford and their KC certificates were stamped.

I thought they did LOL but couldn't remember as the only KC eye cert I have is for my X breed the others are all ISDS ones. Interesing someone complained to the breed club about a year book advert I had , they had checked with the KC & my dogs registered with them had no eye certs recorded & tried to cause me loads of trouble They obviously forgot my dogs were ISDS reg before being KC reg & of course had their eye tests recorded with them ! As the KC will register puppies from CEA & PRA sufferers I couldn't see the point in having them done under their KC names. My pup will have his DNA tests done & recorded under his ISDS reg & not his KC one(lol hasn't got either yet)He's screened clinically clear of course

Your question has already been answered, but just wanted to put you right on your own thoughts that you hoped you did not sound stupid!
No-body knows anything until they have been taught, read it from a book, the Internet, the TV, or learnt by word of mouth, none of us are born with knowledge, so don't be worried about asking a question here or anywhere else.
