Hi, i think my bitch's going into labour, she is not due till sunday but is panting heavily and won't leave me alone (she keeps trying to get on my knee!) wants me to rub her belly constantly, i'm typing this one handed lol, her stomach has gone very firm and I can feel them kicking like crazy, just wondered how long she could go on like this and when to worry. Thanks Andrea.
Hi she could still go to time, has her tep dropt, is there or has there been any discharge is she hacking up any thing or looking for some where to hide, and has she stoped eating if so may not be long keep your eyes on her and keep your cool good luck hope all gos well and let every one no how you get on warm regards debbie.
Hi thanks for replying, she has had two meals today, and no digging. I have put the thermonitor in a safe place! and now carnt remember where, she seems to have settled a bit now but if I move she starts panting again. Do dogs have braxton hicks like us? I've set up the camp bed just incase.
Hi ive had this behaviour go on for 3 days u said the pups are moreing a lot so it sounds like ther getting ready for birth, and you bitch will be keeping an eye on where you are at all time as she want to know shes not on her own in all this . Has her water bag gone do her eyes look very red and is her nose running, if any of this is happening then i would say shes in early labour. regards debbie
HI How did your night go, has she setteled down again. I hope all going well for you warm regards debbie.
Hi debbie she seemed to settle well last night, shes eaten again today but she has began panting again this evening and still cling. Her rear is very swollen and seem tender she keeps lokking at it abit of digging this morning but nothing tonight. Hooray found it! her temp is 37.88 Thanks Andrea
HI again, temp can drop to 37 3 then when it starts to come up again she should start labour and delivery. did you get a pm from me the other night if not i will try again warm regards debbie.
Hi debbie, I did get your pm but it was very late, she had a very restless night last night, but has slept most of the day today still snoozing now. Her temp has dropped to 37.69 , abit of digging earlier and shes eaten well today, just have to wait! I'm feeling very anxious just hope everything goes smoothly, my last bitch was a natural practically textbook I hardly had to do anything, but you hear so many horror stories carn't help but worry.
hi dont get heat up your bitch will pick up on it, it does sould like it could be soon, what bread is she.

Donna

I'm sat reading through it now lol. Shes a dogue de bordeaux.
Regards Andrea
Good Luck Andrea, Hope all goes well. I was in your place 5 weeks ago, and have enjoyed every minute of it.
Soon be time to say good bye....not looking forward to that bit though.
Lynn

Good luck Andrea. It's always the days prior to the whelpings that are the worst. I constantly re-read all my books, especially the parts about complicated births.... But don't worry. As soon as your girl gets started properly, you will have no time for worrying. All will go well, and afterwards you will have 7-8 wonderfull weeks. The time you spend with the pups will be worth all the worrying you go through now. Remember, most whelpings are uncomplicated, but it's the others, the difficult ones, you hear about. Keep us updated on how your girl is coming along. I really envy you, but am looking forward to a new litter in the spring.
hi, thanks to everyone for your support its just nice to now theres someone there who understands, my friends think im potty, fed up with me going on about dogs haha i'l proberly bore you with blow by blow accounts lol i'm telling my partner everytime she goes to the loo!
Any news yet regards debbie.
No i'm totaly confused now she slept well and has been normal today, she hasn't eaten much though?
good luck hope it goes ok :)
It wont be long, iam getting excited for you. Have the movents of the puppies slowed down . warm regards debbie.
yes, shes not that big i don't think shes going to have to many, but you can never tell with big dogs they carry in their rib cage ( so i've read) she seems much more settled today but its like she got to stage one and stopped, ive got the feeling she'll go till sunday now?

Sounds like it'll be soon, if she's quieter she may be getting ready for the hard work :d Hope all goes OK, I absolutely adore your breed and the best I've ever seen has started coming to the training club that I go to.
Keep us up-to-date, my SWD has just under 2 weeks to go and she's getting very big!
