I have been planning for Crufts 2006 for over 2 years now. :) My breed gets CCs for the first time ever at Crufts next year so it will be history in the making. My bitch's breeder is going to judge so obviously I can't show her this time (she's been at Crufts 4 times anyway), but I so much wanted to be part of it, so my big plan was to have my first home bred pup ready for Crufts 2006. (Obviously that wasn't the only reason for breeding, just the reason for the timing of the litter.) Gosh it was a close call! The bitch came into season 2 months later than expected, then had the pups a week later than  exected, so the one and ONLY championship show with breed classes on before Crufts entries close (i.e. our only real chance of qualifying -could do it at LKA but what with it being AVNSC much bigger entry!) -ended up being Midland Counties when the pups were 6 months and 1 day old. Tallk about last moment!! Happy to say my boy went BP and his 2 sisters also qualified so we shall be at Crufts on pastoral day. :D

I'm not showing my Pharaoh Hound there as the judge doesn't suit.  But I'll be there handling my friend's Hamiltonstovare.
- By ice_queen Date 04.11.05 12:36 UTC
I think it's between now and mid november.  So any day soon.

I'm going thurs (aussies) fri (YKC handling and handling for someone) and sunday (red and whites) so far.  In just over a week I will know if I'm going on the saturday aswell.

Wait I have to survive christmas first!!! :D

- By LucyD [gb] Date 04.11.05 21:34 UTC
That's a shame - having a Cavalier, I've never looked at the rarer breeds, but shouldn't they have AVNSC like other shows do? Or is your breed not KC recognised yet??
- By Missie Date 04.11.05 21:45 UTC
We'll be there on Thursday (leos) first time with my dog! also going to LKA

I'll be there on working with Nina, i'm so excited, hopefully i'll have my new little bully then, can you take dogs along to crufts which aren't for showing?

Warm regards Susan
- By ice_queen Date 04.11.05 22:30 UTC
Sorry susan no you can't :)  Only enterd dogs can go.

When you say new bully will this be a puppy that will be no older 5 months?  I think there is a rule that says no dogs under 6 months (or is that just on discover dogs stands)

I would think any young puppy would find crufts stressful as adult dogs can doo too.
- By susantwenty? [gb] Date 04.11.05 22:32 UTC
Six months Ice queen, thanks for the reply.

- By ice_queen Date 04.11.05 22:37 UTC
no problem!  I think for the sake of your puppy would it be best to find someone to sit him for the day!  We are hopefully going to have a 3-4 month old puppy over crufts.  Someone is having to scarifice a day each (4 of us) to stay at home and look after pup (if we get her!)
- By susantwenty? [gb] Date 04.11.05 22:48 UTC
My mum would love to puppy sit, she had to mind my two westies the other week when we went to the lake district for the weekend they keep her dog company.  I just thought it would be good socialisation, but maybe a bit stressful, i've never been before this is my first time.

warm regards Susan
- By ice_queen Date 04.11.05 23:10 UTC
If you've never been before, wait till you get there and you will know what I mean, the atmosphere is totally different to any other show!  When people say it's hard to move, they mean it!  :D  Taking a pup to crufts for socilisation would be like socilising a baby in a football crowd! :)

I'm sure I will say it nearer the time but enjoy the experiance as it only comes once a year!
- By Harlistream Date 04.11.05 22:49 UTC
I will be at Crufts on Sunday Gundog day with my puppy, cant take my other dog because his breeder is the dog judge! However we are also going up on the thursday just to do our shopping, as I know we wont manage it on sunday as be too interested in the judging!

We are on the import register so cannot show at Crufts.  Nor can we go in for BPIS, BIS or anything at any other shows.  We can do import register classes only, it's aboiut time things changed in my opinion!
- By LucyD [gb] Date 05.11.05 17:01 UTC
Ah, I see. I'm still a newbie when it comes to the different regulations! That certainly does seem unfair. :-(
- By ice_queen Date 05.11.05 17:08 UTC
I personally think there should be an import class at least at crufts! :)  So you can go to the champ shows and qualify and then go.  Even if it's all groups on one day.
- By spellmaker [gb] Date 05.11.05 21:18 UTC
Hi
Am I right in thinking Crufts do not autamatically send out schedules and entry forms to people who have qualified thier dogs.
I would hate for people to be waiting for them and find out its too late to enter.
I,m almost sure I had to send for my entry forms last year.
Shaz
- By Moonmaiden Date 05.11.05 21:21 UTC
If you entered this year you should get one for next years show & of course you can enter online :D
- By ginastarr [ie] Date 05.11.05 21:46 UTC
i will be there friday saturday and sunday but not showing as in ireland there is a different way of qualifying so even tho my tt got 1st in her puppy classes she did not qualify for crufts i am sure she will get there someday just like her dad last year

georgina
best of luck to everyone

- By Boxacrazy [in] Date 06.11.05 07:50 UTC
If you go to LKA you can pick them up there.

I've not qualified my girls this year, not that bothered, as with them never done
anything under the judge that's judging our breed at Crufts 06.
Instead may handle a friends Border Collie :)

- By spellmaker [gb] Date 06.11.05 12:27 UTC
My girl has qualified but haven,t decided wether to go or not yet. I don,t drive so its all dependent on lifts  also she should have her season in January but you never know for sure and she may be late.
Its probably  a case of just entering and waiting to see.
- By susantwenty? [gb] Date 06.11.05 20:11 UTC
Hi Cath, i've got a bullmastiff, Nina and i'm planning on getting another one.  They are lovely dogs, but i'd definitley do your research to make sure you get a nice healthy puppy, or you could end up with a dog with loads of problems.  Here's a good bullmastiff forum you could have a look at http://ukbullmastiffs.proboards46.com/index.cgi?action=login  Here's another one but you need to be invited so if you say i invited you you should be able to go on the forum then http://s9.invisionfree.com/All_Molosserbreeds/index.php?act=Msg&CODE=03&VID=in&MSID=2480305

Good luck when you get your new puppy, take care.

Warm regards Susan
- By cathhoward [gb] Date 06.11.05 21:07 UTC
thanks susan i will go and look now ,when is your new bundle of joy arriving ? how old is nina ? are you getting another bitch or a dog to start breeding ? thanks for replying regards cath
- By susantwenty? [gb] Date 06.11.05 22:14 UTC
Hi Cath i'm not going to breed my main concern is to show, and i wouldn't dream of breeding bullmastiffs until i knew i wouldn't do the breed any damage, then it would be for a puppy for myself to show, with all the relevant health tests.  Nina's coming up to ten months old, she's alittle star.  Which kennels have you got in mind to get your puppy from?  Is it just for a pet?

Warm regards Susan
