we have just got a 9 week old Border terrier puppy and she has been pretty good at doing her business on a training mat. I want to start taking her outside in the garden to go to the toilet but I am a bit worried as she hasnt had her jabs yet(she is having first one on Friday) We have a lot of foxes in our garden at night and I am worried she may pick something up. Anybody know if going outside would be ok?
Thanks Sam

My puppies are toilet trained in the garden from the word go at 7 weeks, I never use "pads" or paper, as I never want my dog to think eliminating in the house is what I desire.
Never had any problems.
Thanks I am going to try taking her outside from now on. Wish me luck !!

Unless roaming dogs visit it you should be OK going outside to you own garden from the POV of infection.
I'm probably telling you something you already know but as your pup is being good about the training pads set one of them outside too. When you take the pup out it will very possibly still choose to use the pad. If she does, one she has the hang of going outdoors on the pad, gradually make the training pad smaller and smaller until she is going on the ground.
Good luck!
