Hi To All

Looking for a dog that is child friendly for our new home to be in the newyear.
Can anyone advice me the breed of the dog that you may recommend to be part of our crazy family. I have a little 2 year old boy and 2 cats.  Please email me on TijenHassan@aol.com

Thanks
Tij

There are very few breeds that are unsuitable for family life, as long as it is remembered that a child should never be left unsupervised with a dog, or any animal.

I suggest you make a list of traits that you would like and those you cannot see yourself coping with.

For example I couldn't live with slobber, but I have a double coated breed so there is always quite a bit of hair around the place.  I can put up with one more than the other. :D

Size coat type, energy levels etc all ahve a bearing, also the job they were bred to so will have a large impact on their character traits.

Why not have a look at the Breed Standards for each breed?  They can be found here and then you can do a bit of a comparison? :)

A trip to Discover Dogs would be useful You would be able to meet & touch the dogs of all sorts of breeds there

If you can wait until March next year why not go along to Discover dogs at Crufts and actually meet the different breeds.

Make a list of the types of dogs you would like, and then go along and meet them.

U need to look at the characteristics of the dogs, and why they were bred, in other words, were they breed to do a job, such as working, or gundog or toy breed.

Discover Dogs runs in its own right at Earl's Court in November each year, as well as at Crufts.  Dates for this year are 12-13 November.
