I have heard that it is ok to breed a father to a daughter, but not a son to a mother. Is this true, and if so what is the differance?

Sorry, but that's rubbish. Inbreeding is far more complicated than that, if you don't know the pedigrees of the dogs involved very thoroughly, you don't do either!

No thats not true.
It is personal preference what you breed, and some people will say dont do that, but others will say its okay. Personally I would not do that. 
It just does not seem right some how does it.
