Poor chap - mine bark a lot if we're not in the room with them, but are generally ok if we are there. Do as you said, put the TV on loud and shut the curtains. Give him some Rescue Remedy (you can get it from a health food store tomorrow) and perhaps a DAP diffuser might help though I'm not sure how long they take to start working. Don't act like he is right to be in a state though, be jolly and encouraging and try to distract him with treats or training. If he won't / can't listen, make sure he has a den to retreat to! :-(

Hi, I suppose the old cure of putting cotton wool in the ears wouldn't work would it?? I know you would have to be careful about how far you put it in, how carefully etc and make sure you reomve it all...but is it worth a try???(maybe even 'damp' so it doesn't de-fragment?) I've always been pretty lucky and my dogs(even ickle Pepe the Yorkie) seem bomb proof...maybe I should rent them out to the shooting brigade??? :D

How about taking him for a ride in the car to get away from the noise for 1/2 hour or so.

One of my Westies is terrified of the noise that fireworks make. I've found that if I put one of my worn (needs to have you scent on it) tee-shirts on him it acts like a comfort blanket and calms him down. Last year I put one of my tee-shirts on him - put him on the couch and he fell asleep. You could try that ...

Does he like toys.  Last year I had them all playing with squeeky toys, it didn't do my head much good but they calmed down and didn't hear the fireworks whilst they were playing away.  It was a knackering two hours for me, in a very small front room but the dogs loved it.  They don't usually get to dive on the furniture and Lastar had never slept on a settee before :d
