At midland counties show today I was watching greyhounds being judged and after all the dogs were gone over, moved etc one dog was given first that dog then left ring, then a person in the line handed his dog to another person and went and brought in another dog who the judge went over and that dog then took second.
Has anyone any idea what was going on there?

Are you sure this was a class and not the challenge for best dog or best bitch?

Were you watching Best Dog/Best Bitch? The judge normally calls for the 2nd dog in the class of the winner to come back in to challenge for RBD/RBB. The owner you saw most likely owned two dogs, one that won it's own class and one that came second in the same class as the winner.

Sounds to me as if you were watching the challenge for the tickets.

The dog who got first was actually being given the CC, and then the chap who handed his dog to someone else, went and collected his other dog which had come second in the CC winners class, to challenge for the RCC.

Thank you that could have been what it was, I was watching from the balcony so wasnt sure what was being said. That would explain it though.
