I heard that liver is great to use as a treat. Currently Freya has cheese when training but there is a tendancy to be slightly sloppy even on the smallest of amounts so i thought I'd get some liver. So i now have the liver but its not cooked so any suggestions? Should I boil or even feed raw? Thanks guys
I usually stick mine in the oven for 20mins. Or if you want to make it really crispy, do it for 30-40 mins. I used to know a couple of trainers who made something called "liver cake" for their dogs. I'm really kicking myself, wishing I had asked for the recipe.

there is also a version with sardines. I know people that have tried it and dogs (theirs and mine!) just love it :-)

OR.... substitute the liver for a tin of tuna in the liver cake. This works just as well and is a nice change from the liver cake.Don't forget to add garlic as well, when I've made it in the past,Molly has been glued to the kitchen area, waiting!!!!!

Use liver with a bit of garlic powder sprinkled on top for extra smell. Put liver into a plastic tub, put in microwave until creamy brown (depending on how well you want it done, but doesn't take long)

WORD OF WARNING
If you are making SARDINE cake and want to make it crispy in the oven, I did this, the treats lasted a long time in an air tight tin and were VERY Very exciting for dogs (and some owners ;) )
BUT
the house stank of sardines for weeks after :( :( - I mean REALLY STANK!! FOR WEEKS

you've been warned :D :D :D :D
Well I tried the baked liver and the girls are loving it. Next week will try the microwave liver and after that the liver cake. I might have to give the sardines a miss as the hubby my just throw me out!!! LOL :-) :-)
Thanks all for the suggestions. My hands will no longer stink of cheese at the weekends.
