Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / tick question

Having just treated my dog with frontline, I can see what looks like a tick on her face.  She had a small lump there two days before, which didn't seem to worry her, because I can't walk or drive at the moment I didn't take her to the vet at the time, and the lump gone down now. My question is, if it is a tick do I need to remove it if it is dead, or will it fall off by itself? my dog still seems all right in herself. Thanks, Elizabeth

They fall off when they are gorged anyway.  If you cant see anything it must have dropped of either dead or gorged.  I wouldn't worry unless you see an infection developing.  If it is still there remove it carefully and make sure you get the head out at the same time.  You can buy a very good tick remover from most of the big pet stores for a few pounds.
