We bought a pup about 6-7 months ago from recommended breeders who also show their dogs.  At the time they said that Kody would never make show standard and did not give us a pedigree with him. They showed us the papers of the parents and other puppies.  They said that they did not give papers with pet standard pups to discourage breeding from non show worthy dogs.  Kody has come on in leaps and bounds and is definitely worth showing.  Is there any way we can get him registered with the KC so that we can enter him in shows?  We would also like to do a bit of obedience with him but have been told that he must be registered for that too?
Thanks
Koda

You need to go back to the breeder. Only they can register him.

Let them have a look at him now he is older also and get their opinion.  They may review it but maybe not.

Do as Blue says for registration for showing, but if the breeder still won't register, you can still compete in Obedience by registering him on the working register, form available on the KC site here . You can also show him without registration at companion shows which are a good training ground for novices (dogs & owners!)

Did they give a reason why he'd never make show standard?
