I know that over time this subject has been discussed frequently on here but I'm looking for personal opinions and experience.

Now that the dreadful wet, muddy weather is now worse here in Scotland and it's our first experience of Winter here, my big dogs, having very long, thick coats are suffering and so is the house. We seem to live in a permanently muddy, smelly dog kennel :rolleyes:  They're never dry, however many towels I use in a day and smell foul.

They've had their quota of baths this year. I used to use a dry shampoo and grooming spray from PAH but this is no longer doing the job. I've spoken to my friend who used to groom them (back in Kent) and she's got no bright ideas, just keep towelling down and lot's of brushing, which I'm doing.

I trim their undercarriage and paws often, but short of moving to somewhere hot and dry or shearing them like sheep (joke! would rather not) I was wondering if there is a miracle spray/powder on the market that removes dirt as well as odours?

Know what you mean about the smell that develops ;)

I use "show off" from Hub its a liquid leave in shampoo you spray it on lather it up with you fingers then towel dry or us a hairdryer I've seen quite a few beardie owners using it at the shows I bought some and it works !

Thanks for the links Dill :) and advice offered by Roni & John, that's what I was looking for, a common denominator :D

I know what you mean about other Briard owners not all living in the perfect climate Dill ;) it's just that in Kent it didn't seem to rain everyday for months on end, we used to get sand problems though :rolleyes: A lot of people that don't show their Briards (not all)  tend to take the easy route and cut their dogs coat quite short or worse A bald Briard is not a natural or pretty sight

I too like Roni would recommend and I also use show - off from hub it works a treat this time of year on my westie
