:(
Two weeks ago we took him in with mild skitters. He was given a shot, some pills, and we were told to give him cooked chicken and rice for a week or so, then reintroduce his normal diet.
Yesterday, he was sick again, and we took him to the vets. Different antibiotics, another shot, and told not to feed him yesterday. Followed that advice too. However, he wakes up today, and was not himself. There was some sort of sickness/residue on his bedding, so he has been whisked off to the vets, and apparently, unrelated to the skitters, he has a blockage of some sort, so he will remain in overnight, and be on fluids.
Anyone experienced this before.
So sad.. :(

Board seems a little quiet tonight..?
I saw Cain at 5pm, his eyes are open but he was all drugged up. Tommorow I go to collect him. When I went to see him at 5, I also saw what was blocking him, and it was essentiallly caused by a plastic lid that he had consumed, I was unfortunate as the vet said that 9 times out of 10 it would have just passed through him..
I will pick up an aftercare pack when I get him, but if anyone's dog has had to have an op of this nature, then please add yer comments as to how best to accomodate him when he is home, and getting better..
Thank you,
Steve

Have no advice I'm afraid, just wanted to say I hope Cain will be okay.At least an obvious cause was found.
Sorry to hear about Cain :( Am sure the Vet willadvise you as to how best to care for him when he comes home ...that and lots of TLC should do the trick. ;) Keep us updated on his progress.

Yeah, thanks guys :)
When I posted this earlier and not a single person came on to lend support, I thought that everyone had deserted the place! ;)

A BT will sniff out and whenever and wherever possible and given half the chance will swallow ANYTHING unfortunatley they don't know whether or not they will pass the foreign object, looks like you noticed that his behavior was not right quickly, with BT's you have to be very vigilant and watch over them like a hawk.

OOps should have read to the end!

Unfortunately Bull Terriers are one of these dogs that will swallow the most amazing and undigestible objects *having such powerful and large jaws makes it easy), socks being just one, so chances are this is what is causing a blockage soemthing he has chewed.
Can you think of anything he has recently chewed up.
The mother of our imported boy (not a bullie) while goinhg through a phantom shredded and ingested bits of a a bath rug, and was very poorly and had to have the bits removed from he3r stomach.

Indeed there were bits of a tartan rug that he had shredded two weeks ago, among the rubbish that was fished out of his belly :(
For some reason that was the only rug that he has really shredded.
I am really glad that we were both super fast in realising that he was not right, and erring on the side fo caution by whisking him to the vets.
I was talking to a BT breeder yesterday, and he says that in instances like that, the BT can swallow the thing, then gets a blockage, which puts him off food, then he stops drinking. Three days later, it can be dead :( I am glad we didn't just go "We'll leave him another day, see how he fares"...
A warning to all dog owners, and esp those with terrier breeds...
