Topic Other Boards / Foo / Ladies - your opinions pls?

OK ladies...

I am just in the process of arranging the reception for the wedding on xmas eve - have 28 ladies coming to the meal afterwards - mostly friends - and I wanted to put a little gift for them each on the table.

Your opinions on what you would like:

Little box of very nice chocolates
Little box of very nice candles that burn in blues and reds and green flames
Something scented?

Any other suggestions? Limited to about a fiver each?

I'm obviously not coming tho' - as I'm not a lady :D :D

Chocolates...even if you just do roses or quality streets and then put them in cloth which you tie at the top with ribbon (I don't know what it's called)  I got the choccies like that and a bottle of wine attached for a thank you for judging :)

I like the candles. :-) Its a bit different. :D

Chocolates go down well with everyone .....some people have problems with smelly candles (I discovered after I gave my sister vvv expensive candles for her birthday :( )

Most definitely virtual choccies for the VHN - I was wondering about a chocolate fountain .......;)

Hi Chloe and congratulations on your forth coming marriege
have you thought about bonbadiers, very easy to make yourself get some very fine lace and ribbons that match your colour scheme pop a couple of thorntons continental choccies in or sugared almonds and tie them, cheap and so very easy to do.
- By Missie Date 23.10.05 22:09 UTC
MMMmmmmm chocolate!!
- By Lindsay Date 24.10.05 08:21 UTC
Chocolates and candles are both special, and I also like the idea of a mini liqueur too! :P

Many congratulations by the way Chloe :)

How about a single orchid in a presentation box with ribbons there about a fiver.
- By Lokis mum [gb] Date 24.10.05 08:37 UTC
I like that idea - orchids last for ages, too!

I actually like all the suggestions for different reasons!  But do you want to give them something to make them feel good on the day (like chocolate! ;) ) or something to take home and keep to remember the lovely day that they shared with you? :)
- By Tippytoes [gb] Date 24.10.05 09:11 UTC
I would give them all a photo frame and get some photos taken at the meal. Then once developed, pick your fav and then give it to them to pop in the frame. :)
- By Carla Date 24.10.05 09:11 UTC
I think I am going to have chocolates for the ladies and little bottles of port with their names on for the gents... :) Love the candles and the orchid idea - but everyone I know loves chocolates :)

Chloe. my daughter put a disposable camera on each table and has some brilliant unposed pictures to remember the day! :)
- By Daisy [gb] Date 24.10.05 12:19 UTC
That's a very good idea - my hubby's nephew got married last year and they did the same :)

Yep - we've ordered ten of those between 40 odd guests. I love that idea :)

Anyone think of any other ideas to make the party memorable - any extra touches? :)

As it's Christmas Eve, how about finding a really nice tree decoration for the little gifts, then they'll think of your wedding each year when they hang it on the tree?

Oooooooo i like that idea!!! :D :D :D I LURRRRVVVVEEEE Christmas!!!! :D
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 24.10.05 16:32 UTC
How about these Carla? - looks like they come in a gorgeous box if you look at the bottom one - I'd be thrilled to get one of these as a 'favour' at a Christmas wedding and would think of you fondly every year.

OK, going to press 'Post' now and betting the link won't work as it's got a number in ... fingers crossed ... GO!

If you can find a source, Yankee Candles have a fragrance called Wedding Day that they make in a variety of their products. Maybe a small box with a few choccies & a Wedding Day Yankee sampler in it would be something a bit different?

The candle idea sounds nice too :)
- By aussiesfirst [us] Date 25.10.05 22:08 UTC
I love the Christmas theme and time of year.  Why not an ornament for their tree at home-a picture of the couple in a frame thanking them for being a part of your day?
