Hi all
Leeds Champ is only three weeks away - AAAAAARGH - the boys are such a mess. I'll be there on Sunday - gundog day - any other list members gonna be there?
Just hope the weather bucks up and the A61 too. Thats the main road that Harewood HOuse is on - I drive it everyday - it';s closed today because ofTHREE seperate road traffic accidents - it's an awful road and made worse when it's wet and greasy.

Can I ask as someone wanting to go watch the Leeds Show as opposed to participating...with a particular interest in cockers...what time does it start, how much is the entrance fee, how long does it last etc? Many thanks.

Gundog/Hound day is the 27th July and judging starts at 10.00 am admision is £6.25 adults & £3.50 children (a bit high for most shows but it is a lovley place). If you are very lucky someone on here may have a spare pass but they have not arrived yet. Jackie H

I won't be at Peterborough or Leeds this year.
Do not wish to enter under the judge at either !
Also the weekend of Leeds clashes with the gamefair being held
at Broadlands, Romsey - 5 miles away.
Will you be at Houndshow or Bournemouth?

I'll be at Leeds on the Monday, it's my Italian Greyhound puppies first show! They've been to ringcraft for weeks, but one is good on the table and then pulls like a train, and one is good on the lead and like a wriggly bag of ferrets on the table!
I'm going to be soooo embarrassed!

Hi Liz, No, you wont be embarassed. The ringside will be going .."aaaaw"
Hope you have a lovely day and do well.

Liz all the young pups will be causing their handlers problems and that is how it should be, who wants a puppy that behaves like a 5 year old, enjoy yourself, who cares how the pups behave as long as they are not too worried by the new experiance that is all that matters. And who knows they may suprise you and win a place. Wishing you good luck and hope you have a wonderfull show. Jackie H

what a board name!!! maxisleepi, sounds like i should of had it!!!!--anyhow ,who bred your rott, are they near enough to show you how to do it! most rotts will ba stood to attention by 6 months, so ask for help. where are you in the uk,

just a hobby breeder bred my dog but i wanted to show her as she has such a good temperament, i am in middlesbrough, am very worried that she is going to show me up totally as she just hasn't got the hunger for the bait like most of the rotts i've seen she's too interested in whats going on and keeps sitting down. never mind i'll just have to wear a bag on me head.

Date 15.07.02 17:52 UTC
Most breeders are hobby breeder it does not mean that a lot of care did not go into the raising of your Rot. Have you had her to ringcraft classes, if so you should manage, I quess she is a pup, you will be suprised that you will not be alone in having a wayward pup. good luck and enjoy. JH

its hard to tell you this in email but--when she should be standing and she sits down, just walk straight into her from the front, she should jump up, -once up praise her etc--then when she trys it on again, do the same, soon when you see THAT LOOK, that shes going to do it, just lean your body slightly forward, shell think youre on the move and stay standing, --ive a freind near you that showed rotts who might be able to help you out, ---if youd like me to ask her get intouch with me-

Hi
The best advise i can give you is go in the ring relax and enjoy, the judge is a patient person and will allow some dogs to get away" with some behaviour.
Dont get yourself worked up,I bet you 95% of the people who show dogs on here have made some terrible mistakes
and still do :-).
I remember going in the ring and doing the most beautiful backward triangle :-)
I have also stood by the ring side and watched my class being judged and only when the dogs were placed did i realise my mistake, but it doesnt matter honestly.
Forgot to add
Miss her meals the day before the show, she will be hungry and work for you better, plus if you dont already then cook some liver in garlic water and use that for bait.
Rottie people are a good bunch on the whole.
I wish i could be there to help you,but i didnt enter :-(
guess what idiot forgot the closing date (ME).
I still might go and watch though and enjoy yourself.
Best of luck ( not that will need it)

thanks for the tips is the liver in garlic water to knock the judge out when he looks at her teeth?????ha ha!!! i always cook liver to use as bait and starving her sounds like a good plan. I'll have a go. look out for the skinny rottie thats starving!!!!

Just in case anyone dosnt know............Very lightly fry tiny pieces of liver in garlic salt. (Just for a few seconds for the garlic salt to stick/absorb) Transfer liver to microwave and overcook it. The liver then takes on the apperance of an Aero choccie bar, but is really hard like a dog biscuit. It never goes off or slimey after being prepared like this, and the dogs love it. It must be tiny pieces to start with as it swells when cooked like this.

Well I'll be there with Lana the Spanish Water Dog, unf. I don't think she'll get anywhere because she's going through a nervous stage after going missing, unf. she now hates children. Also taking my 8 yr. old NFC to see what she's like at a big event, she's never been shown, but fancy starting.

Oh no :( that's my all time nightmare - I'm so disorganised that I have to stick everything to the kitchen cupboard doors so I don't lose them.
My dad's got all of my important paperwork (will, life insurance policies, passports etc) locked in his safe - it's the only way I could guarantee not to loose them.
I hope you can get replacements sorted out by the weekend.

Hi all - just to let you know - I've managed to get hold of the secretary, she put me onto the printers and I've left a message. Apparently there shouldn't be a problem and they'll send duplicates out to me. God what a nightmare :D
I am so dippy at times - lol
