How late is it Pam??
You could try phoning the sectetary BUT they usually do not accept entries after the closing date at Champ shows.

Good Luck

Dawn,

It is late LOL 2 weeks. Never mind. One of my firends is planning on travelling with me but by the time we get it agreed we seem to keep missing them.

I don't want to travel down south myself. I would be lonely :-(((

I am still trying to make the transition form the open to the champs..LOL

It takes me to make it to the open ones 1 hour from me.. I will have to get organised..

Thanks Pam

Trouble is when the show secretary has checked the entries they go off the the printer and then they can't slip one in. Sometimes, with open show in particular you can phone a few days after the closing date and if they are kind they may tuck you in, the thing is they are not suposed to, but as show socites are short of money after the F & M they can sometimes be very helpfull. Not sure Champshow secs will, don't think they would dare. Try and set up a system so you don't miss out again. Jackie H

Thanks Jackie..

LOL me with a system. now that would be funny but I agree with you. I need an assistant to do all my things I think ..and a cleaner ,...and a maid...and a cook....now I am dreaming.

I feel like I am still purcking the courage up to show in the Champs a bit. which I know is daft but I am terrible for not liking being Judge.. ( Head scratch why am I showing LOL)

Once I get a few out the way and have done a bit more travelling up and down I should be a bit more organised.

Pam you will be fine, I still get butterflys before I go into the ring and I have no idea why. I've turned up to a show on the wrong day. I know of people who have gone to a show and taken the wrong dog and of one who forgot to put the dog in the car and turned up at the show with all the grooming stuff and the grooming table but no dog. So there is hope for you. Just remember a championship show is just like an open show but a bit more comfortable, a nice bench and a bigger ring and if you are really lucky a judge who knows a lot about your breed so you can watch and learn. You will be surrounded by people in your breed who between them will have hundreds of years experiance and some will be happy to advice you. Worry not go and enjoy, you will have to remember to enter first though :) Jackie H

Pam - listen to JackieH. She has a way on convincing you it's a good thing :D Thanks to her and my pups breeder we have entered The City of Birmingham Show ( and if you'd asked me 3 months ago I'd have said I'd never show). We will have done 2 open shows before then and I'm a nervous wreck too but hopefully I'll remember to take the dog and get the right day :D

LOL, sorry but I would have loved to have seen the owners face when they looked in the back of the car to find no dog! I bet they spent the whole journey there thinking 'I know I've forgotten something.........?'

I have heard of champ show secs accepting entries up to about 2 weeks after the closing date, and the odd one who will turn them down if a day late! Most seem to accept up to about a week or so after the date but don't rely on it.

Were they friends Joan or did they have high profile dogs or am I a cynic and why do I use words I'm not sure how to spell. Jackie H

No, not particularly. I think all the champ shows are as eager as possible to get your money so will accept late entries. One person was told to send her entries direct to the printers about 2 1/2 weeks before the show. Actually one person was refused recently (can't remember the show) and she was a 'name'. She was NOT pleased as she couldn't believe anyone would do that to her.

I rang the secretary for a champ show i had missed and was told
if you ever do miss the closing date of any show still send it in.
It will be returned if need be but sometimes they are not allowed to say they will accept them but do
Send it in with a cheque and if its returned all you have lost is the cost of a stamp (make it 1st class though)

This is good advice as some entries that are sent on time some times arrive up to 7 days later so if you get yours in and it arrives before it goes to the printers you will probable be OK. Jackie H

Thanks
