Hi All
My westie Jack has been on Hill's Prescription I. D. for about 10 days now as he had a bout of diahorrea and he's only 14 weeks old. He's greatly improved on it and we have been adding a little probiotic natural yoghurt to it as he's not mad about it. Now he's getting tired of the yoghurt (and I notice he was pretty runny last thing last night so maybe it's a bit rich too).
I tried mixing in a teaspoonful of Brandy wet food into it in two of his meals the other day - these were gobbled down but he was abolsutely hyper, realy crazy tearing about the house with his tail down for nearly three hours after it - and this was after lots of play and even a little walk. Not using that again!
He used to be on Burns with a little of the Brandy before he got the diahorrea and his stools were always very soft.
Sorry for long explanation!
I just wondered would a little watery Bisto poured over the I.D. tasty it up for him or would anyone have any suggestions for me?

Adding gravy will up the salt content greatly. The idea behind the ID diet is that it does not contain anything that will upset the dog. By adding things to it, you are counteracting the whole idea of said diet. Has the vet got to the bottom of the problem? No pun intended :D
It will certainly make it more palitable BUT it is very high in salt so should not be used often. It would be better to add a little meat or egg if you really are havign trouble getting your dog to eat, although I would suggest that he has learnt to hold out for someting more interesting and a couple of days with nothing tasty added will get him back eating what he should rather than what he fancies!

DITTO that Gravy of any type has a high salt content and should not be used! If it really is needed add a little bit if sardine or pilchard in sunflower oil...NOT BRINE!!! mix it in well and that should make it more palatable, all the best, Dawn.

You can make your own chicken broth,or buy the low salt variety :)
