my 9month old lab has just had results from an x-ray on his back leg, the vet told us that the cartilage between his ankle and foot has not formed and never will and this is causing him a lot of discomfort . because he has no cartilage between ankle and foot the 2 bones are rubbing together and bits of bone have come loose and we were told he will need a operation to remove them . i am very concerned about this as i hate to see him suffering especially seeing that he is only 9months old is there anything i could do to help him with reguards cod liver oil tabs or glucosamine please help

Is your dog insured?
My dog was given cortavet by the vet when she ran into a metal post and went lame on her front leg, its supposed to aid cartalidge and tendon repair process,it contains glucosamine and chondroitin.Cost is £23.41.Don't know it this made a difference to her or not but she's okay now, althuogh i think it's something to do with growing up and having more muscle to support the joints.
