Can your breeder put a ban on you from breeding your dogs

They can place an endorsement on your dogs pedigree, meaning should you breed the resultant puppies can not be registered with the Kennel Club. Many breeders will lift the endorsement, if they feel the dog in question is a good example of the breed, and has had all relevant health checks done.

You should also be aware of this by the registration document you receive back from the Kennel Club.   Most breeders put this fact in the contract of sale as well.

And if they think that you have sufficient knowledge/experience to breed your dogs without putting them at risk!

This is what my puppy sle agr4eement says on the matter, which explains the reason for doing it.

You will see on your ‘KENNEL CLUB’ REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE that there are two ENDORSEMENTS on the forms.  These are to safeguard the welfare of the puppy and the breed.  Should you wish to breed from your puppy in the future, I will apply to the ‘Kennel Club’ to lift the breeding restriction, subject to receiving copies of Satisfactory HIP and EYE test Certificates.  If you have a bitch puppy, this would not be until she is over two years old.

This is what my contract says:

This puppy's registration is endorsed not for breeding and not for export. The breeder will arrange for the breeding endorsement to be lifted at a suitable date should the new owner wish to breed, provided that the dog has been hip scored within the breed's normal range, has been eye tested clear, is of sound temperament and general health with no major conformation faults according to the KC breed standard, and that any potential plans for breeding is discussed with the breeder in advance.
