Hi there,
we have recently aquired a new member to our family. She is a 9 month boxer and can I say beautiful..... lol
Her previous owners gave me lots of info and are insistant that she is house trained, but I can't get her to 'go' outside. We have walked for ages and I am armed with a treat ready to praise and reward her...but to no avail :0(...she won't even go in the garden.
I've tried differing the times of our walks and feeding times, but she is very happy to do her business in the kitchen.
I have lots of patience for my little girl but I am running out of ideas....anyone?
She maybe just needs more time to settle into her new surroundings. Go back to basics, take her outside into the garden upon waking after eating and playing etc and stay there until she "go's" then give lots of praise and treat. Also say your key word like "pee pee" or whatever when she actually does go.
If you stay outside with her eventually she will have to go, even if thats 2 hours later.
Maybe someone else will have some more ideas for you :)

As you are in contact with the previous owners it might be worth asking them what sort of surface she used when she was with them. Some dogs get the habit of using a particular type of surface and can be quite stubborn about changing it.

I agree with Jas - one of mine refuses, point blank, to go on anything but grass....
