i have noticed the occasional mention of this green-lipped mussel extract and was wondering what people think. I have a 13 yr old lurcher who is starting to show signs of arthritus and was considering starting him on some more natural medications before diving down to the vets for pain killers and anti-inflammatories. any one else use this kind of thing on they dogs and if so how much do they have. He is 30kg in weight, so how do i find out a suitable dose for him. any ideas??

My 18 month lab has OCD - I started giving him green lipped mussel extract about 4 months ago, and have been very impressed with the results.  I haven't given him any metacam since, and he does plenty of running about, and hasn't limped once.  He's 32kg and I give him 500 mg a day, but will be reducing that soon as he's doing so well.  I read an article about it, saying that you couldn't really go wrong the the dose, but 500 mg is a good starting point.  I did ask the vet about it first though.
