i have 2 dogs and my bitch is not kc registered...her breeder couldnt be bothered!!!
can i register her and what about her pups?

i believe the short answer there is no and no. Only the breeder can register your bitch and if she (the bitch) isnt registered then neither can any pups be.

No, you can't register the bitch - only her breeder can do that. So no, her puppies can't be registered either.

Until her breeder registers her, none of her puppies can be registered - also no reputable stud owner will allow you to use their dog because of this lack of registration. Basically what you have is an undoubtedly lovely pet bitch, who shouldn't be bred from. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

This is where you see the value of KC registration. You could contact them and ask for a copy of your bitch's pedigree, giving her registered number, and if their version didn't correspond to the one you were given by your breeder, you'd inform the KC and they'd take action. You'd also have a good case in the small claims court. However without the backing of the KC you'll just have take the breeder's word for it, and enjoy your bitch as a lovely pet.

If you want to breed you could always buy a second bitch, but this time go for a registered one, preferably from a breeder whose animals have a good show record so you can be reasonably sure they're trying to produce good quality puppies.

How old is your girl?  Did the breeder say why she wasn't KC registered?   I would alway question and not buy from anyone who doesn't KC register their dogs.

Why is she not registered - is her Mother?
What was the breeders intention for the litter?
I would never ever ever contemplate breeding from an unregistered bitch as the likelihood is that she would not be of breeding quality, not meaning that she is not fantastic etc etc but not for breeding from.

Breeders have all sorts of reasons for not registering - can be that they are not allowed as too many litters or bitch is too young or too old, can be cos they are clueless and not aware of what needs doing etc ...

hi...i aquired this dog from someone else...not her breeder
she was 8/9 week old when i got her  ( her previous owner said the baby didnt treat the dog right)
he gave me her papers and said if i phoned the breeder she would register her....but when i did the breeder said it was too much mither.......
i have no intention of showing her but would have liked to breed from her...and no not just for profit!!!!!!!!!
now everytime i phone the breeder she is never in...or the phone is off the hook.

I'm glad you rescued your girl if the previous owner gave her up at only 8/9 weeks. Looks like breeding wouldn't be a good idea though, just enjoy her as a lovely pet and give her a wonderful life. :-)

It will also have important information printed on it, such as the date and reslut of the parents latest eye tests, hip scores, elbow scores etc. In that sense it matters even to those with no intention of showing or breeding.

If your dogs parents had of been reg'd then the breeder would have registered the pups.He was one of those dirty toe bags that lies through their teeth to sell a pup.And once it's sold they don;t want to know you no more.They are every were,and they are ruining the trust that was once in the dog market.
