My shih-tzu keeps licking the other shi-tzus ear inside at every opportunity. I try to ignore it thinking she will stop after a minute but she doesn't. She goes on an on and now the little one has gone a bit bald on the underside of the ear. When she went to the vet for a jab recently the vet remarked on it. I don't know how to stop her doing this. It drives me potty. The worst of it is the little one just lies there and lets her get on with it. Any suggestions please

The exact same thing happens to mine! My Dane pup is always licking at one ear on our Goldie, makes it all wet and pink! Not that our Goldie minds, he just lays there and lets him do it! Weve checked his ear and everything for an infection as such but it dont seem to be bothering him at all! We do stop it though if we see them at it!

My Shar Pei do this too - one has just had surgery on his ears, now had the stitches out but our youngest still keeps trying to lick his ears.  Trouble is they both love to stand there and lick each others ears and faces.  Its very cute to watch but we are trying to stop the ears for obvoious reasons.  Easier said than done though!

I wondered if there was anything I could put on her ears so Lulu didn't like the taste. Obviously it would have to be something that would not harm Cassie. The worst thing is they have their bed in our bedroom and you are trying to sleep and there she is licking her ears. They did used to sleep in the kitchen but when we moved a few years ago, for some reason they would not settle in our new kitchen.

How about tea tree spray? We got some recently from Pets at home for our Goldies got a sore bit on his paw, and it stops him hiself from licking it. Maybe you could just dab a small amount on the inside of his ear, its strong stuff! That ought to do it! :)
