My pups are 3 weeks old, Mum is having 4 x her normal food, But her toilet has gone really loose (almost like water).
What should I do?, Put her on chicken & rice? cut down her food to less than 4x?
Starve her for 24 hours then put her on lighter diet? or get her to the vets first thing in the morning?
Please Help....
Lynn
My girls go up to 4x their normal food too when they are nursing a litter. We don't worry too much about the loose stools... they firm up nicely after the litter has weaned and the food amount goes back to normal. You can add some canned pumpkin to her diet but really when we feed this much food it is bound to cause looser stools and will do her no harm.

yes take her to the vets, stools like water cant be normal but dont cut down the amount- she is feeding for her litter, chicken and rice wont hurt either.
I can't say that it smells like fish, the smell is quite strong, but not fishy. She has firmed up a bit today, more like a cow pat. Vet said it is because she is eating so much and cleaning up the puppies mess. Said to give her a couple of days and take her back if not firm.

Hi Lynn :D
Three weeks already?!!! Are they all OK apart from Jenna's upset? And how are you?
I bet they are all starting to come to life now aren't they? It must be absolutely wonderful to see it, a very special gift :)
Take care

Hi Nat,
Yes, 3 weeks and 2 days. They are all wonderful. There is only an ounce or two between them, they all look the same (beautiful).
And they are really funny, I sit watching them all day.
Stud dog owner is a judge and is coming over in a couple of weeks to help me select one that I can use for showing.
Hows Jed doing, piccies were lovely, he is handsome.

:D You must be very excited about the judge coming, it must be like the ultimate test as to how good they are :D
Jed is doing very well thank you :D He is such a sweetie, although the cat might call him something else!! ;) He has settled on NatureDiet very well, no upset tummy or anything, and he is quiet and clean from about 11 o'clock at night till about 6 in the morning, and ever so good in the day, we haven't had any accidents in the house for over a week now :D He has no idea how special he is :)
I hope Jenna's belly is clearing up, and that the pup's carry on thriving :D
Take care
