Where I live there are quite a few Labs, about equal numbers of blacks and chocolates but only one, very old yellow. As a kid, yellows appeared to out number blacks and chocolates were rarely seen
I was just wondering if this is just a local thing - there are loads of Schnauzers too - or are the yelllows falling out of favour nationally.
I must say, although these Labradors come in all shapes from lean working stock to bordering on Bullmastiff-type, they all have superb temperaments.
There are still yellows about, they are just not so popular at the moment.
i have a yellow and a choccy, but i must say, yellows are my fave. I suppose having had them in the house from the day i was born makes me biased!

Do you know, I've just thought about and I can't remember the last time I saw a labrador round here! It's Staffie and boxer central.
labs shih-tzu's and springers are most popular round here. I was out with my two, and my friend and her choccy-yellow combo this morning, and tonight i bumped into 2 choccy nut cases.....there was a black lab at the vets.....dillon the springer was out this afternoon, as were woody & corona.......
Round here (Wirral) there's hundreds and hundreds of black labs, and millions of choccie ones - very few yellows, rarely see another one besides Dexter. In fact, there's so many choccie ones, people seem to forget they come in other colours, I've been asked if Dexter's a golden chocolate lab!!!! I too was under the impression the yellow were the most popular.. it's funny how trends change with dogs.

Well considering my Remi is a black lab...they are my favorite, but where I live, I never see black labs. When I picked out Remi, he was one of three pups left, out of a litter of eleven!! There were 7 yellows, 3 blacks, and 1 choc., but only the blacks were left to pick from. To be truthfully, I never see pure black labs. Usually Remi is the only one at the dog park, with 3 chocolate and 2 yellow. If there is a black lab, most of the time its a mix! Although our next one is going to be a yellow female, my fiance thinks that she will attach to him like Remi is to me, hahaha (fat chance)!! I think that the black ones are better looking, but I'm bais!! ahaha

Mostly blacks round my way too, I know of two chocolates (one's been Opi and Remy's friend since they were tiny) and a couple of yellows. The chocs and yellows seem ot be about equal, but there are definitely waaaay more blacks - although, I did see a nice young choc in pets at home the other day, gleefully dragging its owner round the dog toy aisle :D
