My two have developed a talent for opening the prickly covers, and then eating the whole chestnut!   Are chestnuts harmful in anyway?

Thanks
Mrs M

Do you mean sweet chestnuts or horse chestnuts?

Sweet chestnuts,   horse chestnuts are conkers aren't they?? and they're definately not conkers that they are eating.

Do you have a sweet chestnut tree then mrs mop?
Never seen sweet chestnuts in their casings....lucky you, they've always been loose or bagged in the supermarket lol :D

No, I don't have my own tree!!    I walk in woods every day and am literally treading the chestnuts under foot there are so many about.  I actually would love to find a few
conkers (horse chestnuts) for the kids to play conkers with but these seem to be much rarer around here.  Anyway the dogs are still eating a belly full of the things.  I don't even like them myself.
