hi new to site and just wondered how long is normal for bitch to loose clear watery discharge before whelping comes on, its not the mucas plug as its watery not thick.

Yes that's perfectly normal. :)

do you know how long this normally lasts for before whelping starts?

Hi, the plug can start coming away 2 3 day before they whelp. If you are taking about the discharge they have thougth pregnacie this starts at around 35 day and go on though to the end of the pregnacie. regards debbie. 

kippa had her pups today, the first was born at 2pm, she had six in total, 4 boys 2 girls, all doing well and mum is fine. she had a really easy time of it and managed them all very well we only intervined a couple of times to help dry pups while she had the next.
she wanted to eat all of the placentas, although she was sick once, but is doing fine and has chicken soup and lots of water from a sports bottle which we have found very handy as she didnt want to get up to drink.
shes all cleaned up with fresh bedding now, due to her being sick we had to clean up quite soon after, but she didnt mind.
