- By lel [gb] Date 15.10.05 22:23 UTC
We will be *hopefully* moving into our new house over the next few weeks and Im just looking for the best ways in which to settle the dogs in
The girlys are pretty settled and calm but Gus can get a bit upset at times in new surroundings
any advice gratefully accepted from all :D

I've moved a few times with several dogs. I found the easiest way was to take the dogs to the new house a few times before you move, if you can (obviously if you are moving a great distance this won't be easy ;) ) That way they get to sniff the new area before moving. I then take blankets to the new house before the dogs arive. That way they have their own 'beds' already there! I've never had a problem, apart from when they were left alone for the first time. They thought they'd been abandoned! Go back to basics when leaving them. Do it for 5 mins, then 10 and build it up. That way they will realise that this is their new home and they are here to stay. :D

I'd also suggest getting hold of a DAP diffuser, I find them very helpful for periods of stress and change/anxiety (so does my dog :D )
