Hi, Not sure what others think (and I know you didn't ask for advice on this one) but have you thought about waiting until your first pup is a bit older?  When you have a large and strong breed like a Rottie, you might want to wait until you've reached a decent level of training and bonding with one, before you get another one...

we ve had rotties before two brothers, they got on great together and bond great with the family. we dont want to wait to long before we get anther in case cos does take to anther dog as he gets older and hes very spoiled as our kids are grown up

Hi! As Cos will soon be entering the dreaded 'teenage stage' where they turn from cute loveable pup to disobedient monster for up to a year, I'd suggest you wait a bit till Cos is adult. You're going to need to give him all your attention for some time, which will be well-nigh impossible with a young pup as well, making Cos forget all he's learned!

we know what you are saying is true. we want anther to bond with cos at a young age as our two did

Yes, I have two who are so closely bonded they only listen to us if we walk them separately. Together they're a nightmare! :(

We have friends who have had two puppies from the same litter, two years running :) They are both very experienced trainers and have achieved excellent results by, basically, training each pup separately - each has one pup from each litter. The pups don't spend much time together, so effectively separate lives :) They can't afford to have out of control dogs as they have up to 12 dogs at a time :D

Unlike the women i met earlier, who got the sharp side of my tongue due to her not being in control

Daisy - it's definitely possible to achieve this when you've got two the same age, but it is SO MUCH more work.  Everything takes literally twice as long.  I know I couldn't do it!

Have to agree with others on this thread, I wouldn't bring in a puppy with a young dog of this age.  Not because they won't get on but you need considerable experience to run two young dogs together and it's very hard work!

I would wait another year before bringing in another and then I would consider a bitch.  You then have the best of both and little chance of squabbles.

we dont want a bitch and we ve had two rotties together younger than cos is now and we feel the time is right for us and cos to get anther rottie, while cos is young enough to bond to him

You'll find that dogs bond better with a decent age gap between them, there is less rivalry.

Obviously its your choice but you'll find yourself limited in breeders as many won't sell a pup with an adolescent dog in situ as they are looking for lots of training time for the pup.
