My female dog (Chihuahua mix-1 year old) mated with my male dog (full chihuahua-about 7 years old) 6 months ago because she was in heat (but I did not see her bleeding). Well, she did not become pregnant.
On September 9, she was bleeding and my male dog was always trying to be on top of her. From September 10 to September 18 they mated (she let him ride her) more than once a day, 8 days in a row and they were both "tied" for about 1/2 hour. Now it's October 13, 05 and there are no signs of being pregnant. Is it too early for her to show? What are some reasons that she does not become pregnant? My male dog has made my other female dog (which is now deceased because of a pit bull) pregnant with no problem. What could be the problem?
Thank you,
Monica*

Are you telling us that your male mated with your female no less than 16 times?????
And that she is just 1 year old?
Please do not be judgemental. I just would like answers, that's it. If you don't have any answers please do not post...Thank you...

I think that you've come to the wrong site if you want help and unconditional support for what you are trying to do.
There are many sites that support irresponsible breeding, but this, thankfully, is not one of them.

Why are you intentionally trying to breed crossbreeds?
Why are you trying to breed a dog that is way too young to breed?
Why were you trying to breed her 6 months ago when she was way, way, way too young to breed?
Let's pray she's not pregnant because it's pretty obvious that you haven't a clue how to go about it in a responsible manner, let alone with a notoriously difficult breed like Chihuahuas :( :(
Do not judge...just answer the questions if you have any answers...thank you

None of us here are psychic - take her for a scan if you can't wait another month to know for sure.
And don't expect people here to be polite to you and understanding of your plight because we care more about your poor little underage bitch than we do about you wanting her to have puppies.
I know the answer to 'the problem'. Your poor bitch has the most irresponsible owner. Rehoming her to someone who will treat her responsibly will solve all her problems.
Hope this helps.

I suggest you take your bitch to the vet and ask his qualified opinion. Maybe there is a physical reason why she is not in whelp and it will not matter how many times you allow your dog to mate her, she will not conceive. He will also indicate if she is in whelp. Please update us on the outcome of your visit to the vets.

The soonest you'll know if she's pregnant is if you have her scanned at about 4 weeks from mating - but with so many matings you won't know when that is. :( Otherwise you'll have to wait and see - but again, you won't know if she goes far overdue because you'll have no idea when (if she's pregnant at all) she conceived.

Hi Monica, I know you do not want people to judge you but what you have done amounts to animal cruelty. You should not have been trying to breed from your bitch when she was only 6 months old, not to mention to foolishness of deliberately breeding cross breeds, and not to mention all the many things that could have went wrong. I feel very sorry for your dogs and hope your bitch is not in whelp. What will you do if she does have puppies, just keep all the bitches and let them be mated again and again by their dad when they're only puppies themselves :( I think you should have your bitch neutered - buy another puppy if you want one.

Ching ching, the sounds of cash in the pocket, about £650 a puppy on Loot, Thats answers why!!!!

Just amazes me :(
I too cannot understand why you would breed from such a young bitch :( maybe she has an STD, or something to do with her hymen (think thats what it is) which will need to see a vet. Maybe she just self absorbed her puppies so no longer pregnent.... Most people only breed for 3 days and skip a day in between so they no when to take their bitches temp to figure out when she will be in whelp.... Why create more cross bred/unregistered puppies just to pts all the unwanted ones all ready in great need of homes. To me that is pure selfishness and ignorant and you have no respect for your dogs or the litter waiting to happen..... Its not intact dogs that cause unwanted litters its irrisponsible people that cause so many animals to be pts everyday....
Sorry but I can't help but feel sorry for you, do your bitch/dog a favor have them altered and enjoy them for the pet they are suppose to be.

i could not have put that better myself doll face, i think that is very cruel that u let your bitch be mated at 6 months old, she was only a baby herself and you were trying to make her have babies herself? at 6 months old dogs are still learning themselves and the last thing they should be doing is having puppies to line your pockets! and if you are any kind of responsible adult you should have known that you wouldnt have got a good response on here, this site is for dog lovers needing a bit of advice and i'm sorry but i think that is 1 thing that i would not call you and thats a dog lover!!!!! my only advice to you is let your dogs be happy puppies and not cash machines!

At 6months old , she may not have even been in her first season( you said yourself, she was not bleeding)

Hopefully she's not taken! Why, why, why would you breed from a cross and more so with a puppy?
Sorry but when many of us work hard on improving a "breed" it annoys when people breed intentional crosses.
hi Monica Salas,
why would you let this happen to your pup? because that all she is,they dont mature till 2yo :( i dont think you realise the seriousness of wat youve let happen, being so young if she is pregnant you could loose your girl and litter during welp.do you rearly want that to happen?
theres no point having a go at you its happend, you shouldnt of let it but you did. if she has the pups youle be lucky if you dont loose her or require a c-section with her being so young. chances are youle have to hand rear a litter every 2hrs night and day are you ready for that?
you wont know shes pregnant unless you see a vet if shes not pregnant ide advise you to get her spayed asap,if she is but not far along you could get her spayed straight away and you wouldnt have a problem with pups.
i hope she isnt pregnant for your sake and hers.

Monica, I note one of your hobbies is 'reading the bible'. Did you not learn anything from it?

The OP is in the USA so perhaps there's a bit of a cultural divide. Of course designer crosses are very popular there & so is breeding from dogs at an early age
Having said that one of my dog's sister had her first litter before she was a year old & anothers brother was used under a year too & this is in a breed that the Veterinary advice is not to breed until the dog & bitch are 2 1/2 at the youngest !!!!!!!!!!
