My gran has a 10 year old Tibetan Spaniel who she rescued just 5 mths ago. She feeds her Pedigree Chum Senior out of a can and sometimes the Pedigree Chum in the foil packets. Ellie appears not to like having mixer added so she just gets the meat along with a few treats during the day, e.g. schmacko, gravy bones etc.
Ellie appears to have been constipated 3 or 4 times since she's lived with my gran, a quick dose of Liquid Paraffin seems to do the trick but I'm wondering if maybe she's not getting enough fibre. Does anyone know how much fibre is in tinned food and if it's not enough what could my gran give Ellie to substitute ?
Many Thanks. :-)

Hi Claire
Tell your gran to give her dog some bran.

Hello
The only way I get my puppies to eat the dried food is with Chappie ,I told the Vet this
and he said chappie is the best on the market and has been for many years

Haven't tried the bran so it may be an option.
Regarding Chappie, we tried her on that and she hated it, also as it is still tinned food the fibre content may still not be enough ?? Providing lack of fibre is the source of her constipation hence why I was wondering what tinned food is like regarding fibre content ? :-)
I'm no expert on health but it may be an idea to get a vet to give the dog a once-over, because constipation (if it is chronic) may also be caused by anal tumours, amongst I suspect other health problems.
I'm not saying this is the cause, but it may be worth bearing in mind if change of diet doesn't solve the problem.
Best wishes
Lindsay
