Hi i am new to this but after reading a few of the topics have found it quite informative. I have an 8 month old weimaraner who still hasn't come into season or even shows signs of doing so. Is this normal??? If so, when could it happen???.
Thanks

That would be quite young for the large r breeds to come into season, most larger breeds take longer with soem exceptions. My own medium sized breed tends to be 8 to 10 months of age.

It's not uncommon in my breed - under medium size not to have their 1st season until they are nearly 18 months.

I agree Brainless.
My breed are notorious for having their seasons anytime between 12-18 months. My bitches mother didn't have her first season until she was 23 months and now only has 1 a year.
At 8 months I wouldn't worry too much ;) Is it possible to speak to her breeder about it?
Hi there, just to let you know that our bitch ( a golden retriever ) is having her first season at the monent and she is 18 months old exactly. We have spent the last 6-9 months worrying about her but the vet assured us that it is normal for any bitch to be up to 2 years old before they have their first season. After 2 years then they would start to look into why they hadn't had a season. I was starting to worry despite what the vet had said but finally it's here. I'm told that socialising her with other bitches in season ( if you know of any) helps as it helps bring on theirs. Even the vet told me this!! Good luck and I'm sure it'll happen soon.

Hi,
My 8 month flatcoat has been in season for nealy two weeks now and is coping very well. She gets upset when I take my other dog out to the park so I make sure I road waik her every evening.
Her season is very light and luckily she is showing no signs of dicomfort but I will get her spayed asap .
