I love lots of other breeds too, but the first four (okay, technically there's only 3 breeds, but the bears are special). The next 6 are a mix of what I'd quite like to own in the future or couldn't for technical reasons but like anyway.
Phoebe
Was just interested to have a look at the TRB and BCSP - never heard of them before so was intrigued, I think the TRB's look a bit like a large Basenji and the BCSP's look a bit like a Chow with a longer nose to me - sorry if that offends you, I don't mean too :) Do you have a BCSP? I only looked on one site however so there may be others that look nothing like a chow, out of interest how do you come about finding / learning about these breeds?
Cheers
Kelly

Yep - a bearcoat looks a lot like a chow. I don't know if this was the site you went to
http://www.bearcoatsharpei.co.uk but that's my Phoebe! Sadly she passed away in March but she was my special dog. There's lots of other bearcoats in her gallery and I hope to have another one in the future.
They are a 'throwback' a bit like longcoat rotties - not shown or bred from and just turn up ocasionally in litters of normal siblings. They are sold as pet quality and are not 'rare' - I hate to see the way some colours and even mismarks in shar-pei attract a premium price, so I'm glad the bearcoats are not peddled in the same way. Chows and shar-pei share a lot of ancestry, so it's not surprising you get longcoat shar-pei I suppose.
As far as learning about them, I think I found out about the Thair Ridgeback from the internet and the bearcoats are well known in shar-pei circles (one of the first champion shar-pei in the USA was a bearcoat).
I can only think of 6 ....will that do :)
1 malamute
2 bernese mountain dog

Hi Phoebe - Oh I see, that was not the site I saw (I just typed in to google ;)) however she was a real beauty ;) I actually prefer the longer coat on the SP than the sort - I love the look of chow's too though but think SP's are great dogs - very nice indeed.
