Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / No movement.... should i worry?

Hi All,

As you may know my bitch is due to whelp any time now and has been showing a few signs, my main worry is, i can't feel any movement from the pups. Should i be worried or has anyone else been in this situation. Ive alsways been able to feel the pups before at about 7 wks onwards.

I hope alls okay with her and the pups, i am really getting concerned.

How long have they been quiet for?  They do usually go quiet a few days before as they are moving getting ready to be born!  Depending upon how much fluid etc. the mother has you can't always feel them especially if there's not many.

I haven't felt them at all during pregnancy. Im really starting to worry now. She was huge at 5weeks and now she's not that big (dont get me wrong she looks in whelp) but i am starting to wonder if she's maybe reabsorbed. I dont really want to take her to the vet this late on just incase.

Have you had her scanned at all?  She is definitely in whelp? rather than a phantom which can be VERY convincing?

I think I would pop her along to the vet, I know you say you would rather not, but just to be on the safe side.

Good luck, maybe it's a small litter and that is why you haven't felt movement.

Hi Guys,

Good news, just been to the vets, all is well, we saw at least 3 puppies all with heartbeats, and my vet thinks she probably has more puppies in there its just she's too far gone now to count them :-)

Im delighted! I actually saw one puppy move its little leg!!!!! It was lovely to watch. So we've now just to sit and wait for them to appear lol.

Thank you to all of you for your replies x

Yeah, I am made up. I came home and just burst into tears and hugged my girlie lol (didnt want to cry in front of the vet lol) Weare just thrilled to learn that the pups are ok, but al the more so that our girlie will be just fine too. She's enjoying all the extra attention, and is loving her new whelping box lol.

Thanks again xxx
