hi I had a problem with argos last year over a faulty sofa when I rang I was told it would be another 6 weeks to wait even though I had been promised a week so I emailed them a snotty letter complaining and saying how I would deffinatley be telling everyone who would listen what bad service I had recieved and low and behold 24 hours later I had a manager on the phone and they offered to deliver next day perhaps you need to make a fuss
Thompson,
We ordered a very cheap sofa from Argos a few years ago now when we first moved in together, we were sat on it about 2 months later and one of the springs went in the back of it, we obviously rang them and they said they would replace it, by which time we had already decided that we were going to buy a leather sofa as we were expecting a baby, and thought it would be more practical, they wouldn't let us change the sofa style, we HAD to have the same sofa style, so we ordered another one not knowing whatelse to do, again the back springs went in it, so we demanded our money back, it took over 6 months to get our money back, and that was after going through Trading Standards and it got to the point where we had entered into court procedings with them before they gave us it back!! For the whole six months, they never said they didn't want to, or couldn't give us the money back, they would say, yes the cheque is in the post, it was posted yesterday, or I am writing the cheque as we speak or some other lie!
Good luck with it! :)

Hi! Just a suggestion, mind. How about air beds as a temporary measure, until you're able to get what you want? They're cheap and do the job.
You would need a pump as well but you can them in Argos, easy as you like.
Im not happy with argos at the min either :( We ordered some new bedroom furniture for my son at the beggining of september and we are still waiting for it :( Have rang twice first time was told last week this week i was told next week and then got a letter saying in a fortnight AAARRRGGGGHHH if i dont hear something soon its getting cancelled!!!!
its probably coming straight from the manufacturers pigginfedup
i have the same problem with a sofa from a different company...
Like a lot of places they are selling big items that they dont actually hold stock of and it has to come direct from the manufacturers, who also have other outlets to supply,so it only takes a slight increase in orders to have everybody waiting longer for their stuff. it always seems to happen in the months leading upto xmas ( 3 or 4 mths before)
this will be the 7th week since ordering my sofa bed and i still dont know if its coming this week or next.... not bad for a delivery which should have been within 3 weeks

I usually as a rule only buy big items if i can take them away with me, that included my big american style fridge freezer, I told them in the electrical shop No you cant deliver it to me ( at an extra charge! ) if i cant take it with me now then i dont want it and i will go else where...
10 minutes later there appeared a new f/f in abox and ready to go :D
I think next time i need a sofa i will go when its end of the design line as they usually sell the display ones discounted and you can take them with you. :D

When we moved into our new house recently we ordered some garden furniture from argos, a table and 4 chairs. They were delivered, but the cushions were missing. After numerous phonecalls the delivery man from argos turned up one morning with another table and chairs- so we now have 2 sets of garden furniture, but still no cushions!!!

Can I buy one of the sets off you? Ill make some cushions lol :)

Just goes to show you can't go by other people's experiences ..... I'm sorry yours wasn't a good one but I bought a solid pine wardrobe from Argos yesterday (Tuesday) at 2pm. I got a phone call from them at 4.30pm to arrange a delivery date and it's going to be tomorrow! This is coming direct from the manufacturer.
Debs
:( not fair :(

We got our lovely leather bed from Homebase and they had it in stock so were able to take it away there and then :)
I have had one dealing with Argos delivery and that was a pram my mum had bought for Indigo my two. I think by the time it would have arrived it would have been useful for her kids  :D

I used Argos delivery and they delivered a dented dishwasher. Called them to collect and they just took forever and pretended they had tried to collect! We arranged a day and of course by 5.30pm, still nothing. Called them and apparently the delivery men said they continually rung our door bell and knocked our blue front door and got no answer. This was amazing as our front door is white!! They hadn't been near my house! I didn't complain as much as I should have but I will never use Argos delivery again and always advise others not to as well.
This is probably because they might subcontract their delivery service for
some of the articles?
We had some flat pack articles of furniture delivered and that was delivered
by someone in an unmarked white van.
They were delivered on time and we had no problems with deliveries, just had
fun counting all the bits and pieces to make sure we had everything.

LJS pleased you had success with Homebase because they are now part of Argos (GUS). Just saying this because I have had a terrible time with Argos eventually got my money returned to my bank account but it cost me nearly £7 in phone calls - the last time I darken their door steps!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOOOO HOOOOOO finally im getting my stuff delivered on thursday morning :) YAY
Whoops!! Ive just ordered all my crimbo presents from Argos! I know these are only small items and no furniture, but because a few things were out of stock and came in stock one day and then the next, i had a delivery yesterday, today and expecting another tommorow!! I bet the delivery drivers well peed off! lol Never mind! :D
Finally got my stuff at 8.10 this morning :) so i can get on with lads bedroom now before half term :)
As long as i get the rest of my stuff tommorrow, thats good enough for me :D
We had a similar problem with a bed from argos when it arrived bits were missing, so we had to send it back and waited months to get replacement so in the end we rang up to cancel funnily enough they could send out bed 2 days later but we said we didn't want it, then had to wait ages to get the money back. They are happy to take money from you but not give it back.

Had a phone call from argos yesterday.. Hello its argos delivery driver I am outside your house... I thought great... no sign off him when I got to the door. Looked around the street no sign... Phoned him back and he said if you dont come to the door now I am going I cant be waiting around all day for you!... I said well I am at my door now and I cant see you plus I wasnot informed ou where comming today to which he replied its not my problem is it. i then asked him which address he was at he said my address but in swindon!!! I live in oxford!!! I asked hime why he was at swindon and he said because your postcode dint find in my satilite navigation (which it wouldnt because its only been finsihed being built last week) so i put you address line in and it said it was in swindon... I asked hm if it said australia would you have delivered to to there to which he replied i dont have to put up with this and ung up!
I phoned argos to be told becasue I had not accepted delivery it was being sent back to the warehouse! and now should as a out of stock item on there computer... I asked them how it was out of stock and they said because you havent taken delivery then it goes to te next person on the list... so now i have to wait for it comming back in stck and then wait for another delivery date! Shocking!

I have to say we usually end up using a local furniture shop here in Northampton - they are wonderful! Old established family firm, personal service...when we bought our leather suite, after a few days we realised one of the arms was out of true. So they sent a chap round who agreed, we kept the one we had until they received a replacement, then they just changed it over. It's so sad that modern life generally seems to be becoming more and more impersonal, with no-one willing to be accountable for mistakes. :-(
Thats just reminded of another to do we ahd with the same bed, when the delivery men came to pick up the bed it was a muddy day and they would not come in because we have cream carpets, how many people must have cream carpets, they asked my husband to carry it in to which he refused it weighed a ton, so it went back and we had to await another delivery time, luckily the next it was raining out so they were allowed in the house.
Faffing around with deliverys is one thing but when the delivery drivers are rude, thats another!! Theres no need for rudeness!
I got all my stuff fine from argos, they were only small items though, but even still, large or small, argos should be providing a friendly prompt service!
I wonder what they would have to say if this was brought up in the Daily Mirror or something!
