is it normal for a staffy to eat flowers? as mine tends to chase after flowers more than anything else?
also how much exercise should a 8 week old puppy be getting? as currently i take mine out 4 times in my garden for about 5-10min a go?
I dont know that its normal but then show me a Staffie that is normal! :) Mine does exactly the same. Just have a read up on the flowers in your garden and make sure that none are dangerous and that he/she cannot eat any bulbs as they are sure to at least make a dog sick if ingested. Mine does it with cut flowers too and hes over a year old now so I dont suppose theres too much hope that he will stop now. If you are precious about your garden you may want to start some diversions when he/she shows interest in your plants otherwise your garden will suffer when he gets older. If your not too worried though then just make sure that he is safe.
With regards to excercise, it depends what you are doing with him. With mine, the back door was constantly open and he would go in and out as he pleased. I would just keep and eye on him and when he went out, I would follow. He would just wander around smelling things! When you think about it that is no different from them wandering round inside, just colder! But if you are talking about playing in the garden eg, chasing a ball or something, then a few minutes 4 times a day sounds about right. Not sure if yours has had his/her jabs yet so you may want to make sure that you keep him away from any places where cats commonly poo/wee.
Funny arent they?
:) sounds like a normal staffy to me lol:)
mine sits infrount of my french doors making sure im looking befor he give a silly smile then eats my flowers.

It's not just Staffies that eat flowers. My Pharaoh Hound bitch (who's now 8 years old and retired from the showring) used to wait til I wasn't looking then eat all the flowers from the boxes in the group rings at Ch shows!!!!! You know how it is - you stand around waiting for your turn - chatting to the people either side of you - the first I knew of it was when you're suddenly aware of a giggling starting up among the spectators!! LOL At least she didn't actually get IN the flower boxes like one of my Hamiltons did once LOL

Hi I'm new on here! I just got 2 weeks ago and half Staffy and he is insane!!! I htought it was cos he had joined our already rather nuts family so it's reassuring to see that it seems to be a trait of Staffordshire Bulls! Think the other half is Jack Russell and from what I heard they're rather nuts too!!!!

I've got a Jack Russell and he's got all the makings of being a mad flower eater par excellence! Right now he reckons that dandelion clocks have got the sort of attitude that needs a sharp nipping in the bud! :)
Although I think I prefer flower eating to what my cocker used to do - wait for the first signs of spring and then neatly dump all over the daffodils!

Hah! I soon learned, when Jet was a puppy, to NOT point out the lovely new flowers in my garden to Dh when puppy was near. Chomp, gulp, flower gone.
