thanx sally just had her 3rd 1 hour 50 mins apart, mums been great wiv her pups im a mess though lol 3 lovely girls now, dont know if she havin any more though, she still panting a lot

I have had pups at 20 minute intervasls 3 hour intervals and a surprise pup 9 hours after I thought she had finished for the night. As long as the bitch isn't straining to pass a pup ind the birth canal for more than an hour then varying times between whelps are normal.

thanks 4 your advice every 1, mums ok now we had 2 go 2 the vet as i was gettin worried about her still panting and loosing green fluid but vet gave her antibiotics an said she fine, so 7 healthy pups i dont think i can ever go through this again though lol,
Fantastic news....i bet your so proud of her :-)
The panting and dark green fluid is normal so I'm not sure why the vet gave you AB's? chances are she doesn't need them. It's usually that colour for the 1st 24 hours then it should turn to a blood loss much like when humans have had a baby.
She is panting because of the heat from the puppies and the womb contracting back, she will pant more when she is feeding them as this causes the womb to contract more so make sure she has plenty of water available at all times. Also check the temp of the room, I had my room far too warm really the first day and also had the heat mat on, so I turned the temp down to a more acceptable level but left the heat mat on that way mum was more comfortable.

My bitch done this too - for weeks after the pups were born, every time she went out for the toilet she would take a toy back into the whelping box with her. She's never really been one for carrying toys around either but she would snatch one up as soon as she went outside and carry it till she got back in - weird :)

If she's crying I'd check her temperature and get the vet to see her.

My bitch didn't start carrying toys anywhere until she'd whelped. She then carried puppies, slippers, teatowels, wellingtons and anything else she could drag.
Her "pup" is now 15 months and she hasn't stopped carrying yet!
Good luck with your litter.
I would imagine she's crying because she's confused regarding the toy carrying she doesn't really know what to do? My bitch has never carried toys and now beings teddies to the puppies all the time :-)

well my girl still got her toy baby in bed with her and pups but i have noticed that when she gets out 2 go 2 toilet or 4 a drink she pushes the toy closer 2 the pups so i think she may be using it as some sort of comfort for the pups! me and my OH still havnt managed 2 get any sleep yet but i dont think we would sleep anyway, we cant stop looking at them all we so proud

do you think it would be ok 2 take mum for a short walk now or is it a bit 2 soon?

Is she asking to go for a walk (apart from going out into the garden to pee and poo)? Mine are usually ready for a short walk at about day 4.
