I have just become the proud owner of an adorable standard poodle puppy.I love her to bits but several of my friends who own standard poodles have commented how tiny she is and that she looks more like a miniture.She is 10 weeks old and from her feet to her back is around 10-11inches.Also her pedigree papers say she is white but she is cream with apricot colouring on her ears and legs.Any expert advice on this would be appreciated.Thanks

A lady who breeds toy poodles has a dog puppy the same colouring & he is registered as white & she says he will go white She must know what she is doing as she has been in Poodles for over 40 years !

11 inches is the max for an adult toy & over 11, upto 15 is an adult min anything over 15" is a standard in the UK so I would say your puppy is the right size she only has to grow another 5 inches & she's be within the UK standard poodle size by the time she has stopped growing. My BC puppy has grown at least that much in the last 8 weeks

I must admit so many of the standards you see are huge such a jump from the minature, whereas a freind of mine would love one for obedience but would want one to be no more than about 22 inches as an adult.

What size was the puppy's mum? There is a great variation in size in standard poodles, and they can range from about 22" to 28".

I have to say most of the standard Poodles I've seen should really be called Giant - they are HUGE
