Can anyone tell me what health tests are needed for the Siberian Husky prior to breeding from them? My Aunt has lost her much loved German Shepard and is intrested in this breed.
Thanks.

I think that they have to have eye tests if I'm correct. Someone more in the know will be able to advise you!

It is generally advised that Siberians have their eyes and hips tested at approximately 12 months old.
Thanks for the replys :)
My aunt has been in touch with a breeder that has had both the bitches she owns mated at the same time, I have advised her to break contact with this person as they do not seem like reputable people to me, I have not bred a litter for years but this does not seem like the norm to me. I did take a look on the website and was not overly impressed :(

I know someone in the North East who breeds. She may have a litter.
Any chance you could send me the details via pm to pass on? :)
Hi - there's nothing that intrinsically bad about breeding 2 bitches at once. It's normal for bitches to come into season at the same time if they live together, and if she wanted litters from them both, and could find homes for all the pups, then it doesn't necessarily mean they're disreputable breeders. However, there might be more about them that you know of than what you've said here...

Please Contact the Siberian Husky clubs for reputable breeders or maybe your aunt may consider a welfare sibe?

Only buy from hip scored and eye tested parents.
Please research this breed very carefully, they are not the breed for everyone and can be difficult to own if not researched. The rally season is almost about to start (woo hoo :D ) why not come along and meet husky owners/breeders? Or there's a few shows left this season to watch.
Goodluck.
Jenna, Janska and Dana.

Some of my friends are organising a Husky information centre in Keilder Forest.
They are busy getting the funding and are hopning to be open later this year I think.
They have also organised the Rally a coule of times.
If you race Jenna you may know them.
Their dogs are mainly Zero.
John has done quite well in the racing and Linda has done well with her disabled rig.
However, there might be more about them that you know of than what you've said here...
Like I said in an earlier post, I took a look on the website which of course will remain nameless on a public forum and I wasnt impressed with the general overall look of the dogs, but thats just my opinion :)
