Before finding this site,I was not aware that the breeding of cross breeds such as the maltipoo was so frowned upon and for what reasons. Now I am aware of these reasons I have stopped trying to find a breeder as I dont want to risk someone who is purely in it for the money. What I would like to know is what are the chances of me finding one in a rescue shelter as I have completely fallen in love with this dog and consider this my only chance of having one! Also, how similar in appearance are normal Maltese to the cross?
Thanks
Jo

Hi Jo. The Maltese has a much easier coat for you to look after. It is a single silky coat and is quite easy to comb if you do it regularly. In the ring the dogs' coat is on the ground, but you can trim it just above still have a very pretty dog.
Hav a look at The Kennel Club website http://www.the-kennel-club.org.uk/
Click Breed Standards on the left, then Toy, then Maltese, and you'll see and read a full description of the Maltese.
The Maltese have their own rescue. I'm sure that these ladies would be happy to talk to you about the breed.
