I wonder if anyone can advise me please?

We have an 8 week-old Dobie pup bitch and an unrelated 2 year-old Dobie bitch. The 2 year-old has never had a litter and is not in season (believed to be January for next).

However, the 2 year-old is playing mum to the pup, cleaning her and so forth. She is also allowing the pup to suckle her teats and is now producing milk. It really is just as if the pup was her own off-spring!

Should I discourage the suckling, will it cause any problems or is it a good thing?

Many thanks

|My parents new pup did it to my girl who has been staying there for a few weeks whilst she's been in season, she only did it for a few days.  I think that it was just that she was missing her mum and saw Carina as her new mother figure :d  SHe doesn't do it now and she's almost 11 weeks.
