I have been looking at both breeds for a long time now, still finding it hard to choose which breed to go for in distant future, still looking around. Can any one who has experience in both dogs give me advice on there differences if any (apart from looks). At present i have a Bullmastiff.
Cane Corsos are a wonderful breed so are the Dogue De Bordeaux, I have never owned a Dogue so I couldnt tell you much about those all I can say is I too have Bullmastiffs & Cane Corsos and you would not beable to keep both breeds together unless under strict supervision (and even then you could well be taking a chance!).
Corsos need a lot of training (as I suppose all larger Molosser owners would), they need firm and consistant training I would describe them as a dog that likes something to do, always on the move. A lot different from the Bullmastiff and you could well have your work cut out owning a Corso. I would think long and carefully befrore purchasing a Corso pup, they as yet have no recognition from the kennel club (this I fear is a long way off being as they turned down the Corso for consideration early this year). If you do go ahead, make sure BOTH parents are hip scored/elbow scored and be prepaired for long wait for a good Corso, and NEVER be tempted to buy a Corso pup out of the free ads, go to a well established kennel thats been in the breed a fair few years. :)
Hope this helps.

thanks, advice taken on board. in general i am looking for a more active breed than the Bullmastiff, my bullmastiff is great, when in the forests he comes alive untill he comes to water.
Life will never be the same again with a Corso :D
They havent got the same laid back attitude as the Bullmastiff, but all the same they are great people dogs and good with children. Just expect to put in that extra bit of work with a Corso as to regards training, its hard work but you will not regret life with a Corso.
Good luck with your search. :)
