hi, my girl is confusing me a little. On Tuesday evening her temp went from her avarage of 100.4 to 101.4 , then on Wednesday morning dropped to 98.6 .since then its been up and down. On Wednesday and Thurday she basically just slept, until last night when she dug for 5 mins then vomited in 3 areas . Afterwards she slept but was breathing a lot more heavily than normal .This morning she vomited again but other than that is just sleeping again .This is her second litter ,she is 5 years old , 1st time around she nested frantically for ages from her 63rd day .Any suggestions would be helpfull , should I take her for a walk . How many days over could she go,the 1st tie was 25th July,2nd 27th last 29th.
Regards Sally

Hi sally My girl whelped on monday, about two and half days after the drop in temperature, so if your girl is like my you should see things happening to day, but they are all different, this was my girls first litter.
Hope all goes well keep us up dated when you can.

ps my girl whelped on day 60, only one mating.

Good luck Lynn

I wouldn't worry too much as she is only really a day over from the 1st mating? so you've got a couple of days yet. My bitch didn't take until the 3rd mating and whelped on day 62 from that date.
- By SALLYD Date 30.09.05 09:56 UTC
I have a dog whelping chart that says the due dates are 26th,28th,30th from 1st breeding unwards with a gestation period of 63 days. This I  assume means
we are 67 days from the 1st and 63 days from the final breeding today.
So far nothing more is happening , she is laying down , should I walk her .
Cheers Sally

Just as is advised for humans in actual labour, a gentle walk should do no harm - don't let her off the lead though!
- By SALLYD Date 30.09.05 10:01 UTC
ok Im off then , at least a walk will make me feel like I am doing something helpfull. Regards sally

Sorry Sally, your right I can't add LOL! Hope the walk gets things going :-)
- By SALLYD Date 30.09.05 15:20 UTC
She loved the walk and has just consumed a big meal and is resting again !
although she is making funny wheezing noises when she breethes out.
I think a glass of wine and a good movie is my plan tonight .
- By KwackerZ9 [gb] Date 30.09.05 16:23 UTC
good luck sally you must be as excited as me :D i wish i could have a wine and a movie but i have to work from 8 until 12 tonight so if my girl decides to have her pups then im going to miss it :( my OH will be with her though so at least i know she is in safe hands :) ive just got to hope now that she keeps them paws crossed until after 12 oclock tonight lol

Just wanted to say good luck and I hope all goes well :)

As it's her 2nd litter I am sure you know what you're doing, but with Cavaliers it is VERY unusual for them to go over a due date. As the books make a big thing of mentioning this though I assume it is nothing to worry about with other breeds. Look forward to hearing about the puppies when they arrive! :-)

I took my girl out for a walk this morning and while we were out a little black scottie type dog charged down the road at us , nipped her side and bit a small hole in her leg .I tried to lift her quick but the little ba****d was like lightning.
The owner came running out and took it away with lots of sorrys. I wanted to kill her and her dog but got mine home asap. She is shaken up but resting again.

Monica my cocker is bandaged and ok,apart from panting ,digging, runny bright yellow pooh, hiding behind sofa and staring at her other end !
It looks like we all ready.

CONGRATULATIONS, Give her a little longer just incase there is anymore. And get yourself some sleep, when ever you can. My babies are 6 days today and sleep is still something I need. But its all worth it, she had 10, and all doing well.

Good Luck Lynn

Just to let you know all is well.We had more contractions but that was to deliver the placenta from the breech which I was waiting for.She is now all washed and in a clean dry bed and has had some chicken broth with rice.
Her pups are to die for I am so proud of her.
